Photon will remain on Gingerbread!

Part of this is on Sprint, too. I am done with both. Hello AT&T and the S3.

Say hello to capped and shared data for me like others said why update phones that don't sell well and the age of the phone has NOTHING to do with it considering the ns4g is on jb and the epic is on ICS

No surprise here! I've been running CM10 since it came out, haven't looked back!

lol, we have different situations. I like my Photon, but I find it a little hard to justify the $70/month I pay in cell phone fees.

I have been burned twice with two consecutive smartphones (the pre and now the photon). I'm done going for the under dog. I will grab a SG3 and move on. Never again another Motorola product and that to palm/hp that's already on the list

I'm not going to say that I'll never buy a Moto phone again but it's going to be a long time before I get over the feelings of betrayal. They should've told us when they started evaluating the update that it wasn't going to happen, not tell us "Q3" and then "Q4" and then "sorry, you're SOL." Yeah, they really Palmed/HPed that one! Also, it's amazing how many former Pre owners ended up on the Photon as well. We are an unlucky bunch of smartphone users, aren't we?

I was really interested in the Droid Razr M and with the $100 from Motorola, it would've been free on contract. However, it's just not worth the possibility that this will happen again. I guess it's Nexus or you take your chances.

I'm with you guys...I was a Pre, then Pixi, then went back to my Treo Pro for a few months and waited to make, what I though was an informed choice about a good top tier phone. My expectation was that Moto as part of the Android Upgrade Alliance would hold up their end of the commitment.

Sadly. Moto only used it as a marketing tool with no intention of supporting their devices yet again. Honestly, I will likely pick up a Nokia 920 and go to Simply Mobile. The other 3 lines in our family will move to Apple. I'm done.

I'm also very disappointed that AC is giving Moto a free pass on this. If Samsung does this on the SIII for KLP, there will be Editorial's all over the place...but, we get 'They're just getting their house in order'...sad.

...the original Epic!? That piece of crap has ICS now!? (I may be wrong about it, but I've never heard anything good about the Epic.)

I'm with you on the underdog stuff.

Samsung Instinct --> Palm Pre --> Motorola Photon

Awww I remember the day I bought my Photon. Couldn't wait for that phone to come out. I think I was the 1st customer in the store that morning. Didn't know squat about Moto and their updates at the time and word was being spread the Photon would be upgraded to ICS. I think I came to the realization on my own we weren't going to get it. Also remember the day I gave my Photon away. As much as I loved that phone I didn't miss it.

Which phone do you have now?

Has anyone heard that the supposed $100 rebate will not be in the offing for Sprint owners? I has seen rumblings elsewhere, but cannot nail this one down. Either way, there is no Moto phone on Sprint at this time I would take anyway, so the point may be moot other than the fact that we can add that one to the pile of lies we have been fed to this point.

I wouldn't be shocked. It seems Motorola is all-in on Verizon and doesn't really care about other carriers. Even a supposed "flagship" phone on AT&T (the Atrix when it was released) isn't being upgraded. I guess your choice is clear if you want to stay with Sprint: no Moto!

It's not a rebate. It's a trade-in.

True. Good point because you can't use or receive the $100 without first sending in your existing phone. Totally forgot to make that point out to people. Considering that they will give us $100 while we could essentially sell the Photon for more than $100 they are somehow making money then from the trade-in correct?

Also, does anyone know if you trade your phone in and it is modified (e.g. rooted) will that make you ineligible for the credit? Not that I would even trade mine in since I think it is a solid phone overall. Especially while using it overseas on a GSM network it works just fine although it does have some hiccups switching between WiFi access and the GSM towers.

They'll probably part out the phone or clean them up to re-sell as refurbs.

Same as MelliMel.... White Epic 4G Touch rocking JB.
Next phone was going to be GS3 until Note 2 started making the round of rumors. Decided to wait it out so next phone is definitely the Note 2.
