photos lost when forced to upgrade software on moto g

A few months back i received notification that the photo software would no longer work and was forced to upgrade. In the process i lost my photos. any ideas ?

Hello Manucol, welcome to the forums! Upgrading your gallery app shouldn't delete any of your media files. Have you already tried using a third party gallery app from the Play Store? QuickPic is one of the most popular. Also, have you used a file explorer to check if those photos are still in your storage?
