Pic's From Space

Incredible...the pics, the phone, and you for sharing.
Thanks.. Now I REALLY want my new phone..One less digital accessory to carry for certain occasions :-)

I remember the first time I saw Saturn when I first got a telescope... Not many people shared my enthusiasm, but it was pretty cool... Great pictures, thanks for posting them!

Same here. I saw it through a prosumer scope and I was absolutely stunned. It was a bit blurry but just like the photo's you would see online.

Great post! Thanks.

I'm getting an EVO next week and can't wait to put its camera over the eyepiece to my C8.

For those of you unfamiliar with Saturn and its tilt on its axis, just wait for the pictures that he will post over the next 6-10 years. Saturn's rings were "edge-on" last year, from our perspective, and they will be wide open in 6 years. You will see the shere of Saturn floating in the middle of its rings. As in this picture. It will be approximately at a 27 degree tilt.

Tonight, just after sunset. Venus will be shining brightly in the West, Mars will be just west of being overhead (look for a red'ish point of light), and Saturn will be a good 30-50 degrees above the East-South-Eastern horizon.

Enjoy!

Nicely done! I have a 25 Obsession as well as a few other telescopes at my disposal. Did you just slap this up the to the eyepiece and let her rip? Did you mount the phone somehow? Now you have me wanting to try this with my Droid... ;-)

Again, well done!
I just put the Dinc's camera lens up to the eyepiece and click. I have a 10"dob, 6" dob, 90mm achro and a 60mm achro but you have a 25" Obsession. "Your The Man"

That's beautiful! Awesome pics.

PS: If possible, please post more pics if and when you have them.

Cool thread, I am also into astronomy (not as much as you guys) but don't go out much, I live in the suburbs but not far enough away from the light congestion.

I was really hoping to get a good Astronomy program for Android that could control the motors on my telescope so I could just select objects on it and have it turn the scope to them.

It would be better then the standard controller.

While I certainly don't mind you taking your own pictures, I believe I deserve some credit for being first. It would have been nice if you had posted a link to my thread in yours. I don't really care a whole lot but I expect some kind of small amount of recognition especially when this forum's home page features this thread.

You people can check out my thread over at android forums Images From Space! Put that camera to work. - Android Forums. Its lurker friendly so you don't even have to login to see my pics.
