Pic's From Space

I can see this in all the phone accessory stores. "10" dobsonian phone attachment. Held on by magnetic ring for easy detachment."

I think if you really wanted to go nuts on this you could add this little doo-hickey for Astro leetness: WOnline Heh, I may try it!

While I certainly don't mind you taking your own pictures, I believe I deserve some credit for being first. It would have been nice if you had posted a link to my thread in yours. I don't really care a whole lot but I expect some kind of small amount of recognition especially when this forum's home page features this thread.

You people can check out my thread over at android forums Images From Space! Put that camera to work. - Android Forums. Its lurker friendly so you don't even have to login to see my pics.

Sorry man, your pictures are great. But i don't really think he has to give credit to a thread posted on another site. For all we know he coulda come up with the idea himself and never even seen your post. Even if he did, just take it as some sort of flattery. ya know? Good job to you too. The pics are great as well.

Zahav, you are correct. I should have given you credit for starting this so please except my humble apology. Though it is not the first time that I have taken pictures of space objects but it is using the Dinc. I have hundreds of other pictures I have taken with a regular digital camera on my pc and I am surprised at how well the Dincs pics look compared to my digital camera. So to everyone on here Zahav started a thread on the other forum and I just wanted to share with other people about the wonderful hobby of astronomy. Zahav if you hadn't posted your pics I probbably wouldn't have thought to do it but it wasn't my intention to make you upset

Is it just me or is there pink in center of the moon pics?? I thought HTC would have taken care of that by now.

Epic pics by the way, especially from a camera phone snapping through the lens of a scope! One more reason to get me another scope :-) the last one flew the coupe...

I don't believe the author claimed to be the first to do this, he just posted some pics. It's also pretty egoistic to claim that you are the first to do this (and more so to believe you deserve credit for thinking that). Nice pics nonetheless.

No harm done really. Your apology is accepted. Your pictures never showed up on my thread correctly. With your permission I could post them so that the people over at the other forum may view them.

Its now clear that you had no ill intentions but when I saw the homepage of this forum, I made some assumptions.

I'm going to try to take some pictures of Jupiter tonight if its not too cloudy. It rises around 3am but if you manage to get a shot I would love to see it.

I'll send you a pm.

I can assure you the pink hue is not from the dincs camera. Some of the pics I have taken wit my digital camera have the same effect.

Maybe it is from the lens in the eyepiece. The more powerful the lens the more distortion will be present. This may be why the effect does not seem to be present in the shot that contains the entire moon(it was shot with a lower power lens). Different wavelengths(colors) of light get bent slightly differently by the lens. To see an extreme case of this effect look at light passing through a prism.

It takes some real know how to do that stuff. I'm impressed with the pics as well as the brainpower to take them. Astronomy is a tough nut to crack! Great examples of technology and people who put it to work.. :D

Putting a camera up to the lens and taking a half way decent picture of the moon, saturn, or jupiter is not all that complicated but if you want to take pictures of galaxies, nebula's and globular cluster's, now that's a whole different ball game and a lot more dollar's. When I get a chance I'm going to get my 90mm achro out and try taking some close up terrestrial pictures with the Dinc, like some birds, squirrels and well there's a swimming pool down the street,Ah na, I better not do that, the Misses might not approve! LOL
