my friend had the issue where he couldn't send mms to me, but could receive them.

he reset the phone and it's apparently working now, don't know if his reset was helpful in any way, but if you're having the problem, it couldn't hurt to try... :)

A complete device reset or a reprogram? Just to be clear. :)

just a reboot. so a battery pull essentially. :)

Yeah, that didn't work for me. I did notice today that it takes at least 5 minutes to report the error where as yesterday it was 10 seconds at most. Just something Verizon will have to sort out.

So many new features! How do I send a picture (MMS)? How do 8 send text to VZ phones?
Thanks.

it's all done in the messaging app. it will choose to send a mms or sms based on what the content is

Just to update some of you. I spoke with a tech from Verizon today and he mentioned it is a known issue and as of right now the only way to fix it is to hard reset the phone and within your Gmail you have to make sure all of you contacts numbers do NOT contain parentheses. Again that has to be done within Gmail on your computer. I will be giving this a try when I get home tonight and will update you.

I had to do a Factory Reset today after 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support on Sun, 1.5 hours on the phone with Tech Support today (Mon) and then 30 minutes at the Store.

The factory reset worked and all but 1 person who I was having issues with sending MMS to worked. Still trying to figure out what is going on with the last person I am having issues with.

There is also an OTA update that is scheduled to come out December 11th.

However if you check out this post

Look at page 5 of the PDF verizon internal document. I read that and went online and then went to GMAIL and went to my one contact who was being an issue after the factory reset. I deleted the ( ) in the phone number I had for his mobile number. Went back to my Droid it already sync and updated on the droid. Created and MMS and sent a picture to my troubled contact and it went through. Or at least it looks like it sent, since I did not get the "invalid address error" like I have gotten for him and others before.

So if you are having issues you may want to try that and see if it works. Hopefully it will work for you.

That's exactly what I said above you, sorry if I was not clear. Glad it worked for you!

Good news, I did exactly what the Verizon tech told me to do and the issue is gone. All the numbers I was not able to send MMS to now work flawlessly. So again, first change all of you contacts in Gmail on the web to remove the () from the area code. Then hard reset your phone and set back up. Works like a charm.

I definitely have every contact (about 460) in my address book in the format of +1 (aaa) ppp-ssss. I guess I was one of the rare ones that didn't work on my first phone and then when I got a new phone everything has been working flawlessly since. But I definitely have parenthesis in all my numbers.

I did a hard reset on my phone and after adding my gmail account, immediately disabled contacts sync because I sync contacts with my Exchange server. That resolved the issue for me.

All my contacts are in the +1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX format on Exchange. You can quickly edit a contact to this format by clicking the button beside the phone number (like mobile, home, etc) and then okay. It should update the format for you.

I am having no luck in sending MMS. Can't believe I had to drag out my IPOD touch to send a picture. How embarrassing.
I have tried all the suggestions listed and still won't work.

Are you sure you are not having another issue then? You do get the invalid address error correct? Also are you able to receive pictures without issue?

JF

Not sure what you mean by another issue. I do get the invalid address error. I am able to receive pictures with no problem.

Possibly your account not being set up correctly on Verizon's end. But if you get them chances are things are fine. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you.
