Picture quality on Note 9 is subpar and blurry.

I'm having the same issues. I am still grabbing for my iPhone 7 because it took better photos inside my house, or I get my DSLR if looking for an even better photo. I have tried everything, watched every YouTube video, read every article. I can't get any good photos inside my house with every light on and even during the day with all my blinds open and lights on. I am a stay at home mom and haven't got one single decent photo with this phone yet of my baby. All his hair just blurs into the background and if he even moves even a little, forget about it. Complete blurry mess! I have got a few worth saving of my oldest child using Pro mode but I don't have time to always do that. With a baby, you just need auto mode. I'm so unhappy and I think I'm making a trip back to the store tomorrow to return before it is too late. I really don't want to go back to iPhone but my camera is so important to me and this just isn't acceptable. Is there an update really coming? I'm afraid to wait and not be able to return this phone and no update comes along. I have no other complaints with this phone and I justify prices of these phones because of the cameras. This one just isn't worth it.

And that is only true in good light, often times in doors the phone defaults to using the main camera and does digital zoom.

Not sure what you mean. If you hit the zoom button, it changes cameras every single time.

Here's a screenshot vs photo taken. I changed the resolution already to the one with 12

You're taking a photo of a cat that's moving. Considering the default settings in the phone seems to be more attuned to a still shot, have you tried using the Sport mode which is set for moving objects? If it's not enabled by default, just long press on any of the modes on top the viewfinder and it will open up the mode selection settings.

Yours has a "Sport mode"? Can you show me a screen shot of that setting?

Note 9 does not have a sport mode.

I have an S9. I didn't think they'd remove features in phones of the same generation. Oh well.

Just go to Pro mode and increase shutter speed. Essentially DIY sport mode.

Or use Burst Mode.

This is where the pixel 2xl really blew my mind. Having 2 young kids and being able to get consistently great shots has made a bigger difference than any feature of any phone I've ever used. I bought the s9+ planning on using it myself, but after taking a few pictures of my kids indoors i gave it to my wife. The pixel was on another level with their hdr+.

Since the 3xl didn't offer much of an upgrade over the 2, I've got that new phone itch and i would like to pickup a note 9. I just wish Samsung would get their camera software somewhere near the level of Google. Photos with any movement and less than ideal (mostly indoor) lighting always come out so damn soft and blurry.

Any current note 9 users that have received a camera update, does it do much to improve camera quality?

If your not happy with the phone you should return it. I know it's hard to go from apple to android for some. Phones are expensive... you should be happy with whatever you choose to spend this much money on!

I sold my Note 9 for the Pixel 3 XL just because the camera was just so frustrating. I exchanged my phone during that period and also duplicated the problems on my Wife's (different carrier too) Note 9. I battled blurry shots, washed out colors, view finder freezing up, camera app crashing.

For every awesome shot...

I'd get way too many of these...

The Note 9 is the most productive, feature rich phone I've ever used but I couldn't deal with the camera issues. :(

I tried waiting on the camera update for my Verizon Note 9...it was updated through December Update and the camera still had the same issues...sadly, sold my Note 9 and moved on to Pixel 3 XL due to the superior camera...I still use my awesome Galaxy Watch with my Pixel 3 XL. :)

Subjectively, if there camera was more consistent for me, I would be on the Note 9 still.

I don't like how there is a yellowish tint. I prefer a more natural look to my photos.

Exactly...I couldn't get the Note 9 to stop doing that...the Pixel 3 XL was much more natural...shame because the Note 9 is a great phone. I just prefer the camera to match the price you pay for a phone and I'm willing to give up the S-Pen and functionality of the Note 9 to get an awesome camera...there is no 'perfect' phone for me as of yet.

I'm curious where you guy's seeing the yellowish tint ? can you post a picture I don't see in mine maybe I'm looking wrong area.

The "yellowish tint" is more a warm color tone which Samsung is know for. The first is Note the Second is Pixel

For me it's not always yellowish. I've take great pics with the N9. I've noticed that it happens more often when Scene optimizer is on.

Yeah I hear mixed results on if you should enable screen optimizer but I leave everything on default
