Hi there

i need some help and advice please

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 phone. It has a 128gb SDCARD installed with photos on it etc.

I had an upgrade phone - S21 Ultra and thought i would move the pictures across to my laptop. Before i could do this i had to decrypt my SDCARD.

I started the process and after a short whole everything was done.

I removed the SDCARD and put it away to transferre the data later on. I then did a complete factory reset on my phone and got it ready for my daughter.

Soon after i placed the SDCARD in a card reader and used it in my laptop. Out of 1000+ pictures i can only see one image. The rest have grey thumbnails. When i try to open the images i get an error saying that i cannot open then or the files are not supported etc.

I then inserted the SDCARD back in to the S10 to see if i can see the images on there.... I could not see anything.

So, what have i done for this to happen and what can i do to get my pictures back?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Check at Google Photos to see if the pictures are there. Or put your Google account into the phone. I suspect that the pictures are all stored in the cloud, and all you have in the phone is thumbnails. (In normal use, the phone will just grab any picture you want to look at from the cloud.)

I think I missed a step there -- you mentioned decrypting the card and the moving the pictures to the laptop. So you still have all of the photos saved on your laptop's hard drive as well, right?
