Pictures taken with the droid maxx

I think the issue many users have is that the camera keeps realistic color. Many camera users want the colors to stand out and shine. The Droid Maxx stays more realistic compared to a Samsung camera but as such loses some of its "whoa" factor. Its all a matter of preference.

Outdoors pictures are pretty sharp and the color is spot on.

But indoors in low light the pictures start showing a little noise.

Overall I'm really not complaining about the camera, it's decent enough for snapshots.

I cleaned the glass before I took them!

Here's another indoor shot, the colors are spot on

A little practice with the camera goes a long way. The hardest part is holding the camera steady, and for some people that's harder than others. I'm dumping quite a few pictures here....all of them are straight off the camera (no editing).

A couple random shots taken at work with pretty poor overhead factory lighting:

A few more with overhead factory lighting. Still loving the depth of field. Again...everything set to "Auto" mode and no editing done. Showing the "Tap to Focus" feature in the last two.

FWIW, there are some fixes for the camera on the way - https://forums.motorola.com/posts/71d0e8a28e?commentId=727476#727476
That comment about "fixes" was made by a Motorola forum manager. Does he actually work for Motorola, or is he a 3rd party person helping out on the forums? I don't take these comments as gospel unless I know if they work for the company, even then, the timetable to get fixes really would depend on Verizon pushing them out.

Really like the Maxx, but the camera has been spotty at best. I know you should take smartphone cameras with a grain of salt, but it would be nice to take some decent photos without taking 6 shots to get 1 good one or depend on perfect lighting conditions.

There's a thread in the moto x forum also claiming camera fixes coming soon with a quote from a Motorola employee so I think this is legit. But who knows when "soon" will be...

I'm fairly certain he is an employee. I've been in those forums since the Droid Bionic days - horrible phone btw - (and razr and now maxx), and he also administers the soak tests for upcoming software. Every time he has stated with fact that something was coming, it has.

the timetable to get fixes really would depend on Verizon pushing them out.

With every soak test I've been a part of (5 of them), the update was released (through Verizon) as early as 24 hours to a max of 3 weeks after the test finished (unless there are serious problems reported during the soak test).

Just my .02.

here are some of my first shots this afternoon. still getting used to it. first two are partial photospheres.

i will say that this picture was a perfect representation of the actual color of the building while the sun was shining brightly on it. but other things like the grass/trees are definitely a little washed out.

Ok, I have messed with the camera and its grown a bit on me. However my only real big issue is if there is the slightest light behind the subject, it blacks them out. The phone is amazing though and because its the Maxx the battery life is definitely winning me over especially since I work 12 hour shifts and this on me makes it without even using half the battery.

My camera actually is not that bad. I turn on the tap to focus and my pictures come out great. Random pics

im not sure why, but there are some out there who disagree on the tap to focus. i think the camera does better with close ups than landscapes.
