Pie in the UK

Received EMUI 9 today (Dec 25th @ 8:00PM MST) here in Canada on my P20 Pro w/Telus. D/L was 4.16GB w/security patch showing Nov 1st.

Ooh so it is rolling out. Hopefully will have it real soon here in the UK.

Appears so now that I've actually received it...

Pretty poor roll out process if you ask me as I thought surely going by my reads the UK and elsewhere would have received well before us here in Canada. Hopefully it'll come your way soon.

Really hope the P20 and P20 Pro get smart rotate and intelligent screen on finally with EMUI 9.0. Takes the **** that the Honor V10 has software features that Huawei flagships don't.

Well it's the new year & still no update to EMUI 9.0 guess I'm getting it this year though. Also Happy new Year.

The only thing you can look forward to is the pie update "actually" gets pushed to your phone... been scouring the net for the past week plus having yet to find a single instance where anyone has received the update OTA.

My P20 Pro is working fine as well and love the phone in general. It's the lack of reasonable support on the software end (security patches etc.) I've experienced that has me seriously rethinking whether I'll ever buy another Huawei device again... this supposed launch of pie is becoming revealing too in a bad way.

My Mate 9 was one of the first to get Oreo and is still getting consistent updates even though it's over two years old, Huawei is definitely one of the better ones when it comes to long term support.

Can't say I'd consider the support I've received on my P20 Pro as consistent, not horrible yet expected somewhat better from the No. 2 smartphone vendor in the first 7 months. Maybe that will change now that it is 2019 :)

Found this on Twitter. Hopefully real soon.
Unfortunately those posts have been out for 3 weeks now. The release is carrier dependant so it's up to them when they release and I'm yet to find one carrier that will tell you their schedule for staggered release.

My phone comes from the carphone warehouse so should be unlocked but still think I don't get updates first.

In Canada where I'm at all new phones are released unlocked so for us at least, that doesn't have any bearing on when it's released to us. I'm on Bell and some on the same carrier have had it for a week or more now. I'm wearing out the check for update button on my phone checking multiple times a day.

I've been checking for updates but only once a day through the HiCare app or in settings.

Highly doubt using HiCare is going to increase your chances as checking on your device should be more than sufficient... Tis one strange rollout if you ask me.

Yeah it is a strange rollout. Huawei put on twitter a few days ago that if you can't wait for the OTA notification you can get it via the HiCare app but my device is up to date apparently.

Not sure how much weight any of their comments hold as I've seen too many "vague" ones pop up that never seem to fruitate. And I'm sure the update will eventually come to everyone yet still has me keeping an eye on things for future reference.

At least we no the update is rolling out officially now just got to play the waiting game now. Will probably pop up when we least expect it.

Just be patient. It's rolling out. Don't get too excited as there really aren't any improvements for your day to day use so all of this anxiousness is really for nothing.

Enjoy the simple use of the volume control on 8.1 while you can because it gets worse in 9.0!

Don't no why but I love being on the latest OS as soon as possible. But I will wait & enjoy the simple use of volume controls at the moment.

Far as I know Huawei rolls out updates in batches so not all phones will get it at the same time, some may get it a few days later but in terms of long term support I'd definitely say they're one of the better ones, been using the brand since the Mate 9.

Hi folks, first post here. I have the new update 9.0, I somehow had a live chat with a Huawei rep on the phone itself ( I cant remember how I did it ) after giving them serial number and imei I had the update 2 days later.

The wife has the same phone, both got on the same day, she doesn't have the update

quick edit: we are indeed in the UK, phones are with EE ( p20 pro )

Maybe my phone will be next? But who knows.
