Pie in the UK

After some time with 9.0 I think the OS was smoother on 8.1. RAM is not managed as well; before it NEVER dipped below 2gb of RAM used, 9.0 let's it go all the way but then when there is 500mb left the OS noticeably slows down. I have to do a restart as a consequence to clear RAM.

Some apps just haven't updated to 9.0 and don't play nice/have features broken. These tend to be the smaller apps such as 3rd AOD emulators but even some mid sized apps like fitness tracking have broken features.

I've mentioned the volume change issue before. Screen auto-brightness is not as "smart" as before. There are a few little things like that here and there.

I feels like a rushed product and is certainly not as crisp as 8.1. I'm even thinking about rolling back.

Gosh hope I don't get any of that as I love how screen brightness goes on 8.1 & can clearly see it in bright sun light.

Don't want the phone to slow down either when it gets to 500mb but don't think I've ever let it go that low.

Is it best to boot into recovery mode & clear cache after major OS updates?

I have actually found the phone to be quicker under 9.0 .... the screen looks sharper and just a little more snappy. As other people have said, they is not really much change on the surface

Not impressed with 9.0 at all.
on 8.1 my P20 Pro was so snappy and smooth with Nova launcher installed. Now when I quit out of an app back to the home screen and I then tap on another app, it doesn't register. There is a lag between the previous app closing and being able to launch another. Really annoying.

Got my 9.0 upgrade yesterday on Vodafone. My P20 pro was supplied by Carphone wasrehouse unlocked. It feels smooth and swift. I like it.

Just got the update on EE also got the phone from carphone warehouse. Seems swift & fast at the moment but I've only had it a few minutes.

Where can I see if I've got the GPU turbo 2? Can't see it anywhere.

I'm glad you finally got it, horray!

GPU turbo 2 is part of EMUI 9. If you really want to check download one of the supported games and give it a spin. I think that is its only real application.

Thought it would say GPU turbo in the build number as I swear I saw it on someone else's phone. Plus it didn't even mention it when I read what was included in 9.0.

In the UK with an unlocked phone on EE. Since the update my phone will not connect for Bluetooth media playback in my car. Calls are fine but the toggle switch for media audio will not switch on. It works if I unpair then re connect but after I disconnect then try again it does not work. Cleared the cache, unpaired/re paired, switched Bluetooth on and off but nothing works permanently. Have rolled back to 8.1 and its working perfect again. Very annoying after waiting so long.

My Bluetooth works fine. It connects to my little go plus I have. I'm also in the UK unlocked phone with EE too.

After updating to 9.0 am I suppose to clear the cache? Not experienced any bugs though.

I received the update just over a month ago on both my unlocked P20 and P20 Pro and... to be honest... it's all just a bit 'meh'. Sure, the memory management seems a little better and now the camera can estimate calories and my phone can tell me that I have used it enough for that day and can't use it anymore... but I don't really care. It would have been nice to have the smart features of the Honor V10.
