to me it conveys a major lack of confidence in their code. It's also super annoying i can't stand it.

I don't get a kick out of the fact that while pretty much everyone else is still waiting to even get 8.0 on their phone, the Pixel peeps have already moved over to 8.1

Just flashed the 8.1 OTA image, downloaded, flashed and all done in 5 minutes. Love how easy it's on Pixel devices

Sideload the OTA and it took 5 minutes

I sideloaded mine this morning. I have the Verizon model from Best Buy and using on T-Mobile. I'll be doing that from now on rather than waiting for the OTA.

I sideloaded it yesterday. I used this video to do it as I have never done it before. It's pretty good and goes step by step with screenshots.

I followed the Android Central instructions. I have a Mac, so the process is a little bit different than Windows. I kept getting a "cannot read" error when trying to sideload the file. I copied the file right from my directory and that worked with no problems.
