Pixel 2 any body switching over

Interesting. Can you please provide a bit more detail about how to tie a Samsung Note to a contact? Thanks.

Never would I down grade to a pixel. only see myself maybe upgrading to the S9+ and surely upgrading to the Note 9.

The most interesting part of the Pixel is how language translation works in real time when paired with the Pixel headphones. That’s a game changer and I can understand that frequent international travelers would want one. However, I wish Google would work with their hardware partners to produce a better quality handset. The Note 8 hardware is far superior to the Pixel in my opinion. The Pixel has the harware of a mid-tier phone at a flagship price.

Ugh. The thought of trading my Note 8 in for anything at all makes me sad lol. If I did do something like that I would probably regret it the next day. I'm holding tight to this bad boy.

The pixel 2 xl is very nice especially that white one, but it's definitely not a replacement or improvement over a note 8 IMO. The one thing about being Android enthusiasts, new phones come out monthly and I guess for some the latest is what they want even if it's not the greatest. But I'm sure everyone who gets the pixel will enjoy it very much. Of course until another phone comes out next month or the month after that. Lol

The language translation is a great feature, but I've already purchased through Indiegogo a more premium looking headset for that called the Mymanu Cliq. I ordered them in January unfortunately they are just now shipping lol. The negative in early adoption of new products but there are a couple of options for earphone translation other than Google. I would think however Google may eventually outperform them just because they have more money to invest in the tech.

After the Note 7 thing, i replaced it with a Pixel XL. Well i should say 3 Pixels, the first 2 did not receive or make calls. Their were so many other problems, I was on the phone with tech support daily. When the note 8 was announced I sold my Pixel XL and preordered the note 8. Just couldn't go their agian.

I didn't even see why this is a topic. What does the Pixel XL even offer to consider switching? I'd rather have iOS than stock Android.

It's not even in the same class as the Note, any Note, much less this awesome Note 8. Most users of the Note series are business people. If you haven't set Action Notes up on your Note 8 you just don't understand. The Note 8 with Action notes is a business tool, not just a new toy, which most cell phones are, they just aren't on the same level as the Note. With action notes while I'm on a call with a prospect I can take notes about the prospect, and the next time I talk to that number(it's tied to the number), the note icon comes up and I see for instance I talked to him about Dallas to OKC dry van loads for $750, three loads a week. His son's name is Johnny, he plays baseball and has a game on Saturday. These notes help me to turn prospects into customers, which means money, my "phone" just paid for itself many times over. '

Without a stylus it's just a phone. And maybe a camera, but Pixel 2 with less ram, cheaper, smaller, less battery life, no wireless charging, and less storage than a Note 8, but you get an Oreo. The Note 8 will get its Oreo soon enough, but it will make little to no difference in how I use the phone to run my business.

So I guess the short answer is No. ;)

Please explain this feature

* No Spen
* No Samsung Pay
* No External SD Card
* No Wireless Charging

That means NO chance I'm leaving Note 8. I use ALL of the above but Spen alone does it for me.

Well, it's like iOS... most of the time the updates will be stable but it can create new bugs too. The main advantage is that Apple won't let those bugs go and will release updates when necessary to fix those bugs as well as bugs you don't even know about and that's why in general, iOS will continue to have the rep of being a smooth OS over time because between yearly updates, you'll usually get at least half a dozen incremental updates throughout the year. And every iOS owner in the world will get it basically the same day it's released and not have to wait months or never when you hear Google releasing a .1 type update.

With Android or in Samsungs case it's always as smooth and responsive the day it's released... but samsung has a reputation that 6 to 12 months down the road it becomes laggy, janky, etc.

It's because over time if there are bugs to be found, you may not get a fix until next OS update a year later... nothing in between. You're favorite apps are constantly being updated and improved... but those updates can cause bugs to come up in Android and Android needs to be updated to address those bugs.

In the long run and better future proofing, you want an OS that's constantly getting updates unless you plan to set up the phone the way you want from day one and don't plan to allow any updates even from apps.

The Pixel phones may be a bit more plain jane over the Note or V30, but it also will most likely be the fastest or smoothest running Android phone out there and will most likely to faithfully continue to do so for 3 years with regular updates.

The thing that annoys me the most about the software updates is that you get an update full of bugs (most of times) - so what's the point to get the update first?
