Pixel 2 Camera is phenomenal

Re: Pixel 2 Camera is phenominal

I originally thought you meant that Google was making their software availabile to other brands, not a port. When Google writes the software it's based on their hardware so porting is not quite the same thing. A lot of people did enjoy using that port on the LG G6 because the HDR+ produced great results, though it doesn't recognize the wide cam.

Exactly...some ported the Google camera app to the Essential phone and it helped a little. But it didn't make it a Pixel in picture quality. The software and drivers aren't the same for different hardware. Then Google does some post processing with a proprietary algorithm.

Silly me, I just took a fiver out of my pocket and held it up by my computer screen. ;) I'm pretty sure the Pixel 2 camera will just fine for my needs, not being a photo-oligist.

The forums are relentless . . . I feel like I'm doing a thesis defense every time I post something. But, yes, in this case that's what I'd do.

I second or third that! Make a statement about something you've read, heard or experienced yourself and you're scrutinized for it and people just can't wait to lash out at you

You have not established any objective evidence to substantiate your claim that folks here are too demanding in their expectations of properly sourced and formed argument.

That's subjective. Someone does not have to provide any evidence of it . People all interpret things in their own way and can read between the lines without directly spelling something out

Oh we all definitely have our opinions about things -- that is no problem. The issue I see from reading the boards is people who claim their opinion as 100% fact and nothing else is right.. even if evidence from actual tests / known / trusted sources say otherwise. That is when I normally see an issue arise between posters :).

Exactly....I am often in disbelief of posters who can't tell the difference, especially in their own posts.

Having said that, Pixel camera does look phenomenal.

How much better can these cameras get? Can't say its that different from my G6. But I'm not a pro.

I'm sold on this phone camera. Google purchased Kodak years ago and they've been using the knowledge and patents Kodak has to improve the camera performance year after year on android and the Nexus/Pixel line. I can't wait for this.

I did not know that.. Hmm

Google is not the only company that has access to many of the Kodak patents. Many other tech/phone companies have the same access:

From Wired: "Intellectual property aggregators Intellectual Ventures and RPX organized a consortium of 12 tech companies – Adobe, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Fujifilm, Google, HTC, Huawei, Microsoft, RIM, Samsung and Shutterfly – to make the purchase. Each company will split the $525 million cost."

I suppose I needed a /s. My apologies, I thought the absolute ridiculousness of my post would make it come off as silly.
