I think my pixel 2 is dead, or dying. I have had it since launch. It is currently giving me the static screen, I can tap it and bring it to awake, but then it wont let me input my pin ( WHEN i try to hit the buttons I need nothing happens) I have tried to reboot it using power but that didnt work either.

Any tips or suggestions on how to get it working? I really dont want to get a new phone right now but fear that may be my only option at this point.

Oh no, that sounds like a pickle, for sure! Just so I understand: your Pixel 2 is stuck on the lockscreen and you can't enter your PIN or press any of the different "buttons" on the screen?

One suggestion is to boot the phone into Safe Mode. You can do it with the Power button and Volume buttons. I've attached a link on how to do it on a Pixel 2. It may be a long shot, but worth a try!

Keep us posted on what happens. Do you have all of your important photos/contacts/information backed up, just in case?

Edit: I know that link is long and crazy, but I just tried it and it works!

You can boot your Pixel 2 into Safe Mode with the device powered off by using the physical Power and Volume Up/Down buttons on the sides of your phone.

The date is incorrect? It sounds like it could be a software issue as well, but I'm not sure.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It's hard to keep track of all the things you need to back up. I can definitely sympathize with you.

Try Safe Mode and see what happens. Did you drop your phone recently, or anything like that? Any new apps downloaded recently?

No drops or anything recently. The screen has been intermintly flickering for some time, I just thought it was due to the age of the phone. I havent downloaded anything that may have corrupted it. If I cant get it powered into safe mode do you have any other suggestions? appreciate the replies

According to the link I sent you, it is recommended to have Airplane Mode turned off. Now that you have it in Safe Mode, is the touchscreen working? Do any of the "buttons" work?

If so, the link is suggesting you to "test device and app functionality." Basically, look at your apps and try to see if you can use your phone like normal. If your screen is working as normal and isn't flickering, then perhaps there is a third-party app that is causing you this trouble.

Let us know what happens!

no its still not registering the 2 when i attempt to press it

Okay. And your fingerprint scanner is not working? Are any other numbers or parts of the screen working? Is there an improvement from last time?

Let me show this thread to the other Ambassadors and Moderators, and see if they can offer up some more tips. Hang tight!

Of course! This is a shot in the dark as I know you're having issues with your touchscreen... But when you swipe down like usual, do you see your drop-down menu with your qpp options, like usual? I can't remember if I was able to access the drop-down menu from the lockscreen on my Pixel 2. If you can, there will be the option to toggle Airplane Mode on and off.

UGHHH! I got it brielfy out of airplane mode but the screen is very unresponsive back int airplane mode some how

Aw, man! Were you able to get to the drop-down menu?

One thing to maybe try to do now is to turn your phone off and then on again, which will disable Safe Mode. Then go to your lockscreen and see if anything has changed. I'm wondering if somehow the phone went into Airplane Mode when you booted it into Safe Mode - but I'm not sure.

Is your fingerprint scanner working?

its back in regular mode, but airplane mode it also back on... sooo annoying!

Oh no. I'm sorry that is happening. While I was doing research on this, I saw that people's phones getting stuck in Airplane Mode does happen... But this could also be because you can't physically turn it off due to your screen being finicky.

Here's something I found in my travels:

"Phone Restart

If your Android device has been continuously running for several days or more, extraneous data can build up in its temporary memory that can cause issues to manifest. Shutting the phone down for 30 seconds and then turning it back on may resolve the Airplane Mode issue outright."
