Pixel 2 XL Rapid Charger

Hi All,

Does anyone know of an alternative to the OEM 18W USB-C charger that comes with Pixel 2 XL? I mean it charges Rapidly while other aftermarket chargers don't. I have tested two, never gives me "Charging rapidly". It has been an annoying experience.

Google store is selling it for $35, looking for a cheaper alternative for my travel bag.

Please recommend only if you have personally tested it and got "Charging rapidly". Also looking for cable recommendations with the charger

You need one that is Power Delivery (PD) compatible

You WANT it to "Charge Rapidly" ... that is a good thing!

Not many choices - the SONEic doesn't specify POD, so it's probably not. The Nekteck is certified for the Pixel and the specs look like PD (and it's only $20) so it may be worth taking the chance.

Charges rapidly with Google power adapter. So if you can get a different power adapter this is a great cable. Works on Pixel XL and Pixel 2 XL

It charges at the speed it does to help extend the life of the cell. The faster a battery charges, the more stress that gets put on the chemistry.. the more stress, the quicker the battery degrades.

Google learned from the issues of longevity with the 6P and choose to take a more conservative charging profile.

Wish the cable wasn't attached to the power adapter so I could but a 6 ft with it :-/

I can verify the stock charger for the Essential PH-1 will rapid charge the Pixel 2.

I bought 2 refurbished Google OEM chargers on NewEgg for $10/piece. I saw similar deals using a Google shopping search too... they pop up every once in a while and work perfectly.

I imagine it's from a returned or display unit. I don't care much though, it's OEM, works and cheap!

What I was getting at is that you really aren't going to get any better charging performance... The phone dictates it's charging speed, and the stock brick, as far as I am aware, provides the maximum charge the phone will request.

Extending the life of the battery was one of the taglines used to promote the launch, and it wasn't just lip service from what I've seen in at least the charging profile.

Now, if you only plan to keep the phone for a year, tops, that's not important... But more people are keeping their phones longer now, so I'm glad at least someone is trying to do is a solid

What gets me is when someone complains that the Pixel 2 charges too slow. I'm not seeing it that way. This is my fourth phone with high speed charging and it charges pretty damn fast and then tapers off. It might be a little slower but unless you physically time it the difference shouldn't be that noticeable.

I brought this as it can rapid charge my pixel 2 xl via the USB-C port, and it also has QC 3.0 that can charge my wifes note 8 at the same time, you can also plug in 3 other USB devices to charge at 2.4a each.

Has been working perfectly for two months.
