Pixel 2 XL screen unlock issue

Does anyone else notice how far up you have to swipe to unlock from the lock screen? It just seems ridiculously far to me. Almost not a one-handed operation. I'm 6 feet tall and my hands are proportionate for reference.

I absolutely love everything about this phone BTW... Camera is stellar. I only ditched the original Pixel XL because I needed some water resistance without a LifeProof. My needs changed after purchasing.

Yeah it has a pretty high swipe motion. I normally just use the FP scanner but a few times I do swipe and sometimes miss.

I also use the fp scanner when more convenient. It usually doesn't bother me unless I'm in a foul mood and it happens. Maybe I should just focus on that instead haha.

Yeah I use smart lock for home, in the truck (BT connection), and then my headset at work (also BT connection) so there are times I def. don't use the FP either. During those times there have been failed attempts where I felt like I had to two hand to swipe up. It is almost as if Google wants you to get to something like 60% of the screen to unlock it lol.

Same with answering calls which is more of an issue as there isn't another option. Glad I'm not the only one...

I have just tried it. If you start with your finger on the lock symbol you only need to move your finger 20%-25% up the screen.
And tried again. It does work anywhere on the screen.

I'm a two handed index finger phone user and have never felt the need for one handed use.
Apparently I'm in a real minority as I see most others trying to use only one hand and their thumb.
I've tried using only my thumb with one hand and for me it's awkwardly impossible.

I just tested. If you do quick short swipe up it responds well. I don't really notice having to do large swipe up. I just do a quick swipe at bottom of screen and it works.

I agree with you. Yes, there are hours and hours that'll go by and no unlock issue. Then out of the blue it'll happen.

the phone as I mentioned should be worth no more that $150, any how, request a replacement, i believe it is a software/Hardware issue and setup the replacement as a new phone, as I did, seems to some what fix the issue for fist this first day.

this is getting really annoying. takes 5-6 swipes sometimes just to unlock. it's not just when unlocking, it occurs when trying other swipes and I've even noticed that the swipe keyboard won't register more frequently. this is by far the most frustrating thing I have had with this phone

I mitigate a good bit of the aggravation by utilizing "Smart Lock". I've set my Pixel 2 XL to stay unlocked whenever I'm at home, whenever I'm in the car, and whenever I'm using my wireless headset. For me that's almost all the time!

I thought the March update was supposed to fix this, but it's still a bit of a nuisance for me. For now, when I double tap to wake, I have it going straight to the home screen, bypassing the unlock screen..
