Well, this is the companion hike to the one above - this is Heybrook Ridge. Absolutely incredible morning. I started the hike at 6:30am to beat the potential crowds and the needs for repeated social distancing.

Beautiful scenic photos. Calendar- or postcard-worthy, for sure!

Thanks. As hikes go, it is fairly easy. Gains about 800 feet in 1.6 miles, although it gains it quickly at the beginning. What you don't see are the huge high tension power lines kind of over my shoulder (g). But it is spectacular.

Thanks. US Hwy 2 has some great views and is part of the Cascade Loop which then circles further east, then north to the North Cascades Hwy (WA 20) and back west through North Cascades National Park. Now that is one incredible highway.

In the center left is Bridalveil Falls which is another terrific hike and then continues up to where you see snow to Lake Serene right under those pinnacles. That's a steep hike with lots of wooden stairs.

Wow! Wooden stairs too! That's so awesome!

It becomes one UN-ending staircase (g) Some a bit taller than comfortable and they can be slippery. Actually, last week a hiker fell on them and needed to be rescued with a broken ankle.

Here's some examples from that hike take with, possibly the KeyOne.

Rainier seemed to be glowing today although the pictures don't seem to capture it. While on my bike ride. Can you tell which one was cropped/zoomed on computer and which one I zoomed the camera?

That reminds me of the Grouse Grind in Vancouver! My wife still won't let me forget how much she hated doing that hike.:p

I just looked that one up. ONE LONG STAIRCASE almost 3,000 vertical - good job (not being divorced! (g))

Actually, Lake Serene is not that continuous but it does have a bunch of those steps and coming down requires a whole bunch of thigh work.

Oh, I just realized in the cropped image of Mt Rainier is the now closed West Seattle Bridge is right under Mt Rainier. The bridge was closed in March (??) after a whole series of cracks were found in its 500 foot center arch/span. It is only 30 years old. It is a traffic disaster waiting for corona restriction to be lifted and traffic resumes.

Lots of engineers are consulting. Will it implode, can it be saved, why?

More beautiful photos!

Four from today's bike ride and one from yesterday. As they say "what a difference a day makes..."

Today, near the Edmonds Ferry Dock and looking at Mt Baker which is up near the Canadian Border. Yesterday, at good old Discovery Park. We have five prominent volcanoes in WA State, Mt Baker, Glacier Peak, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens and Mt Adams.

Nice shots! I notice that when I download portrait shots from Google Photos to my Chromebook, and then try to upload them to a forum post, they show up in landscape most of the time. To avoid this, after I download the shot, I open it in the photo editor, then rotate it a full 360 degrees (even though it looks correct in the first place), then save it. This ensures the photo gets uploaded in portrait properly.

Thanks for the tips. Will try in my next post
