I think I could've squeezed 8 SOT out of my regular Pixel 3 today. Battery is settling in nicely.

Unfotunatly Screen time is not always a good indicator. It's depends on what's apps are being used
This is definitely true for me, I can judge the SoT based on what apps I use. But I think the biggest improvement I've noticed from older Android is the standby time is on par with iOS (7+).

Glad to see things settled for you. Your examples during initial use had to be some of the wildest I'd seen

Here's my graph. today was not a normal day though I've just been hanging out in bed watching videos and messing around with the phone.

Usually I have less than two hours at the 50% mark at about 3 p.m.

However, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, the phone seems to do better at the lower half.

I was spazzing out of the other day because I was at about 30% at 5 and I was not going to be near a charger till late evening. I decided not to put on the battery saving mode and I made it through the day. I continued to stream music and read stuff on my phone.

I've seen how a few people here turn off the adaptive screen and their SOT has improved. I'll give this one more week and see how the phone does with regular everyday use with adaptive screen on. Then compare it with it off.

While I WISH it performed better during the day, I am uaually at about 90% by 8:00am with minimal use, I seem to get through the day just fine no matter what.

I tried re-enabling ambient display for a day, and battery life took a hit, so I disabled it again. Honestly haven't been watchingy battery life for awhile now. I decided to give it a look, and right now I'm sitting with 10% remaining, with 16 hrs off the charger and 5 1/2 hrs SOT on a regular Pixel 3. I'm happy, it the best battery life I've had of any phone.

Here is my screenshot for the day. At first, if one is looking at SOT, it might seem bad BUT I had off the charger at 8:00 am and since then I've:

Streamed music on the way to a football game
My son watched YouTube pre game at a tailgate
Checked random text and sites for a bit during the game at Max brightness
Sent pics I took at the game but I noticed the reception was horrible and the pics had been stuck being sent and stuck while being backed up by the photos app (which I'm sure was a battery drain)
Streamed more music and I just got home at about the time indicated in the pic.

I really liked the smallness of my pixel 2 but there's no way I would have made it home with all I did today.

My 3XL got a lot of use today and, in my experience, hits a different gear when it goes 15%. So I would have been fine being out longer.

I've seen it repeated time and time and again that SOT isn't a good indicator of battery life. It might seem like this sucks but I got a lot of use out of it today. Ultimately that's what one wants.

I find that if I'm at home, on just WIFI, and just texting and browsing, I get about 3 hours SOT at the 50% mark by the end of the day.

Yeah, I know other phones phones might do better, like the OnePlus, but I'm really happy with my phone. Speakers, screen quality, pictures, Google updates/security make this phone make this worth it for my current use.

Happy New Year everyone

Screen on time is never a good measure of battery life by itself

UnInstall all the apps you don't use all the time.
UnInstall YouTube even.
You don't need the YouTube app
Use Google and type what you are wanting then type YouTube.

Less apps, less battery draw.

If I use my phone for a couple yrs and the battery acts up.
I will have the battery replaced.

With 5 G coming .
And the talk about phones getting more expensive, and 5 G service costing more
I might be keeping my phone longer.
Don't think I want to pay by any higher price for a phone.
Not that I can't afford be it.
Just don't think they are worth it.

I was worried my wife wouldn't like the battery life on the Pixel 3. Turns out, no complaints at all. She's very pleased with the device

I just got the Pixel 3 XL and I am pretty happy with this battery life. I've had this off the charger since about 7 or 8pm yesterday. I have adaptive brightness off. My brightness is set to 68% pretty much always. I keep Bluetooth on to connect to my Galaxy Watch and car and headphones at the gym. I watch YouTube and/or Netflix while on the treadmill at the gym, as well as stream music. Ambient Display always on. Lots of social media and texting.

I'm interested to test this battery more as I go along but so far this is great for 1440p resolution.
