I hear film is making a comeback...lol
Yeah yeah....but that's what people refer to them as. No one usually comes here and draws the comparison between mirrorless and smart devices or distinguishes between DSLR and mirrorless in this forum. The NEX series take great pictures. Very close to my DSLRs....I have seven of them and about 30 lenses.
In any event it silly to compare a DSLR to cell camera but I think the point of this thread is to show that the Pixel can replace the need to carry one. Of course not for pixel peepers who insist on lugging around bulky equipment. I like to think of cell phones as great for taking snapshots and semipro equipment as great for taking photographs.
I appreciate the clarification. I have not invested in a mirrorless system yet. I have a Nikon DX and still wish I had a full frame. My 70-200 2.8 lens is (FF) is my absolute favorite, and I have carried it around Disney more than once.
More and more though, I find myself using my phone. I don't have the time I used to have to allow me to do much more than snap shots. Still, the pixel camera cannot compare to the shots I get with the lens above when I take my time to shoot portraits, shoot my daughter doing ballet in a theater, or my son doing outdoor sports.
Actually there are a lot of film users. Include myself (though disclaimer I haven’t shot film in 3 1/2 years. Retired and moved to the Philippines in 2015 and it’s extremely difficult to get film here.)
Can't you get someone to ship it you?
Getting back on topic, I was looking over the Pixel 3 specs, and I couldn't find any references to a manual mode for the camera. So is it safe to say that doesn't exist? If so, then no way you can compare it to a DSLR, and shots like these would be impossible.
These shots, btw, were actually taken on my V20. I'd say it's likely a closer comparison to a DSLR. I can also save raw files.View attachment 294818View attachment 294819View attachment 294820

Neat
I say the best camera is the one ya got with ya!![]()
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT....
I'm not a professional...so, it's not a high issue for me..... my Pixel 2 takes some extremely good pictures....
Pixel 3 takes great shots.....for a phone.
If you're serious about photography and want to take stunning shots, no question a DSLR will run circles around the Pixel or any smartphone.
