Did anybody see this from Google ?
Yes that came out to everyone. You can see it on https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...s://store.google.com/?hl=en-US&token=oeXdPJx-
Just FYI, Google was giving $315 for a trade in of a Pixel 2 XL just 4 days ago, no it's down to $255.
Of course this doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the upcoming BF price drops... Of course..
Ridiculous...
So I am thinking about ordering a Pixel 3 XL on Thanksgiving when they are $200 off.
But I was wondering if anyone heard if Google will have extended return period for the holidays like most places do?
Meanwhile, they're offering over 15% more for a 2 year old, out-of-warranty iPhone 7+ than for a 1 year old Pixel 2 XL with a full year of warranty remaining and twice the storage...View attachment 294366
I know Google's contracting that trade-in out, but they should put in a little subsidy to lessen the difference.

You know it's being handled by a third party but expect Google to subsidize the trade in offer? It's market value which may not make you happy but I don't see why Google should bump it up.
Lowest recently sold on Swappa is $365, but average price on even just the most recently sold is still over $400 - pretty close to where it was a month ago. Trade-in value isn't following the market (even taking into account the obligatory markdown that 3rd party needs to apply in order to make their acquisition profitable).
Last year the difference between a Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus wasn't much larger, and those were concurrent models.
The used average sale price of the 2XL has dropped from a month ago pretty much in line with the trade in price so I don't see an issue.
I don't see why this is surprising. Going to a company to sell your used item vs. selling private party will almost always net you less. Trading in your car to a dealership or trading in your video game console to GameStop will usually get you less than selling those things on your own. I don't see why it would be any different for cellphones.
Best Buy rumored to have $400 off VzW Pixel 3 on Thurs/Fri only.
