Pixel 3's Black Friday Sale

...I am just not excited about the pixel 3. I honestly just find it uninteresting and there's so many things I've seen in Oxygen OS I'm excited to try and use.

And that's just it - if you're going to spend upwards of $1,000 after tax you'd better be pretty damn excited about what you're getting or why bother. Other than a little concern about no CDMA & no wifi calling (for now) on Verizon I'm excited about the OP6T and at under $600 out the door it's worth a shot as a bridge until 5G sorts itself out next year.

EDIT: Anyone know when Google usually make promotions live? Midnight EST, Midnight PST or some other time?

**Buy a Pixel 3/3 XL and get a second Pixel 3/3 XL up to 50% off. Starts November 16, 2018 at 12am PT and ends November 21, 2018 at 11:59pm PT,

I'm excited about my Pixel 3 XL.

I keep reading about Pixel XL 3 software issues. Is there a comprehensive list here?

The difficulty with finding a comprehensive list would be finding one that only lists issues that are actually widely present without curating out issues that might only be affecting a single or handful of reports making them statistically irrelevant.

The simple fact of the matter is that Pixels, like every other phone, everywhere, have had and will in future generations continue to be launched with software issues. Google has a pretty good track record of addressing issues with theirs.

It's easy to be a mobile hypochondriac, but it will take away the joy of owning any new device - best suggestion I would offer if you're interested in the phone is, get it, see what issues you experience, if any, and if any emerge that you are concerned won't be addressed, return the device. I picked up the Pixel 2 XL last year at launch and my device suffered from about 0.03% of the issues people raised, with those that I did have issue with generally resolved by software.

I don't own a Pixel. Before buying a Pixel I would have liked to know some if the most common problems. I only know there are problems because people keep saying despite this or despite that the Pixel has a great camera so I love it. If I knew what the most common problems were I could make a rational decision on whether they matter to me. People on this forum probably know them but don't wish to share. Whatever. I get they may fix the problems but what ARE the problems. Just the top 5?

#1 it has a notch at the top of the screen.
Which I have already forgot about.
But Redneck Mike Dee reminded me about it.

This is probably one of the more comprehensive lists you'll find

It has a notch is the only issue. I made the mistake of returning my 3XL within my 14 day return and opted to try the OP6T from tmobile. I love the 6T and does everything the 3XL can do with the exception of 2 major things. The camera on the 3XL is second to none, the screen is vastly superior and features like call screen are super convenient. For that reason I will be going back to the 3XL come next week when it drops to $699.

Have we seen the Verizon Black Friday sale yet? Last year they had $300 off. Granted that was via bill credits over 24 months, but it is still $300. That would make it better than this $200 off deal.

Good list of items that have been broadly noted without including hearsay from 1 or 2 people, though several are not defects, software issues, etc but rather simply statements of feature design or 'captain obvious' intrinsic nature. That it doesn't support 4k 60fps recording, or that glass can scratch (seriously?), for example - if Google had stated in specs that the camera had that capacity, it would be a software issue. If they said the glass was scratch proof, same.

Still, good list for covering the actual issues, and nice to see that Google is reportely addressing nearly all of the addressable ones.

I agree. There's definitely something to be said about the difference in what's an actual issue (i.e. something is broken and needs to be fix) and a preference masking as an issue (glass back is prone to scratches if you take a box cutter to it).

Many "issues" are working as intended and by design. As you said, it's good to see what Google has actually looked into and addressed.

A not really pink and a bright white (both XL's) on the way.

500 off the two of them was to good to pass up

All I know is if I buy a Pixel 4 next year, I'm waiting until Black Friday. The trade in values this year we're down and the price of the new phone was up. Plus, the only perk offered at launch was a $50 store credit. I love my Pixel 3 XL. However, I'd be quite a bit happier if it had come with a Google Hub and a $50 credit.

Despite that page saying it is a high likelihood of addressing it, I still don't have a lot of confidence Google will address the audio recording any time soon given their official response
