Pixel 3's Black Friday Sale

Lowest recently sold on Swappa is $365, but average price on even just the most recently sold is still over $400 - pretty close to where it was a month ago. Trade-in value isn't following the market (even taking into account the obligatory markdown that 3rd party needs to apply in order to make their acquisition profitable).

Last year the difference between a Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus wasn't much larger, and those were concurrent models.

Sold my Pixel 2XL 128 mint for 460 two weeks ago. Two weeks prior I could have gotten more.

If this is true I am ALL OVER THIS

I think Verizon will have a similar offer announced tomorrow or Wednesday. Speaking only from their BF offers for past several years. Their Android exclusive flagships always have a steep discount on BF.

I tend to steer clear of Verizon on Black Friday. Their deals are spread over 24 months instead of off the retail like Best Buy does.

You can usually pay them off early but only if you want to pay in full in one payment

I wouldn't mind doing that (I did that with my current phone) but it seems like some of the current deals state that you'd give up whatever bill credits you have left if you pay it off early, if I'm reading them correctly.

Typically, when you buy from Verizon, to get the full discount you have to keep the phone for 24 months. That language is hidden deep in fine print. I always make sure to read that now. Best Buy takes $200 or $400 off the full retail and then that is divided into payments for 24 months. But Verizon is a snake. The phone will still be $899 or $999 but for every month you keep the phone they give you a device credit. That device credit is $200 or $400 divided by 24. Its BS but that’s how they do things. So paying it off early actually makes you lose money.

I fell into that 2 years ago with the iPhone 7 and I swore I would never fall for that trap again from Verizon. I haven’t bought a phone on promotion from Verizon ever since.

If you prepay on Verizon you forgo their device credits. Verizon will likely require a device trade in also. Would rather sell privately and pocket the cash via BB.

Google Canada is offering the 3XL for $250 off for Black Friday. I think that's cheap enough to make me want to upgrade from my 2XL. Right now, they are doing buy one, get a second 50% off. Thursday, it switches to $200/250 off Pixel 3/3 XL. Finally, it switches to a free Pixel Wireless Dock and $50 gift card for CyberMonday.

Sorry....wasn't referring to deals with Bill credits.

The phone guy at Target told me that they on Black Friday Only, they will actually offer a $300 gift card instead of the $200 that they are advertising. The only catch is, the phone must be there physically in the store and so far, they don't have many 128gb phones and almost no White ones. Happy hunting. . . .

Unless I am reading this wrong, it looks like Verizon is going to do $400 off this year. https://www.verizon.com/about/news/black-friday-verizon-get-400-google-pixel-3-samsung-galaxy-s9-lg-v40-and-more

I am sure this is probably the 24 month bill credit type offer, but that isn't a problem for me. We are pretty tied to Verizon since our summer place in Wisconsin has horrible service from other carriers (guests with ATT, etc have had zero to poor service there). We've been with Verizon for at least 15 years and usually keep our phones for about 3 years (currently have a Droid Turbo and it is time to get something new!)

Last year, we used the Verizon BF deal to get the Pixel 2 for my son (college age) at $300 off. No trade in was required and we did not need to add a new line. Really hoping this is a similar offer this year. We need to buy 2 (for my father and I) and $400 off each would be amazing.

That link is no good. Here it is - https://www.droid-life.com/2018/11/...-3-and-pixel-3-xl-at-400-off-for-2-days-only/

Didn't verizon require you have an unlimited plan in order to get the BF deal? I've upgraded exclusively on BF going back to the Droid Maxx. As someone who is basically always on wifi and doesn't stream music, I use .5-1.25 gig of mobile data a month and am on the 2GB plan. Hoping unlimited isn't the case this year.

Last year's BF deal did not require unlimited plan (We do NOT have that plan - 4 phones with 8 GB Plan and 6GB of "Bonus data" from some past offer - The 14GB total is perfect for us.) I do not see anything in the press release that says you need the unlimited plan....

Link isn't working well. Here is the text.

NEW YORK – Verizon is kicking off the biggest shopping day of the year with amazing offers on popular smartphones and incredible deals all weekend long on the latest tablets, smartwatches and the holiday’s hottest tech – the new Palm. A gift is only as good as the network it’s on, and Verizon has everything you need for everyone on your list.

Starting online Thursday and in-stores Black Friday, get $400 off the best Android phones on the market – Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy Note 9 and LG V40 – without having to trade in your current phone. This deal ends midnight on Friday, but you can still take $200 off the same great phones with no trade-in required through Saturday and Sunday.

I am willing to bet it is monthly credits off full retail price over 24 months. I am praying I am wrong though.

You won't be wrong. Just hope that it doesn't also require opening another line.

VZ is the master of making deals that look very appealing until you see all the stipulations. Buying unlocked at a somewhat higher price almost always saves in the long run.
