Pixel 4a up for pre-order.

I thought it was too - turns out is isn't - read some good things about the phone and for the price - what's not to like?

"I need to decide if I can live without wireless charging" - - sure you can -
We'll see. I first had wireless charfing on a 2009 Palm Pre, and had been frustrated since then with phones that didn't have it. And I've gotten used to having it again..

It really should be ubiquitous in 2020...

Now that the 4a is up for pre-order, can anyone explain why the Verizon version is priced $30 higher than the unlocked and Fi versions?

Has this always been the case? I'm just curious; never paid attention in the past.

I wondered that as well and went for the unlocked model. The only thing I can figure is that the Verizon one comes with a SIM card, but $30 seems a bit high for that, especially when they give you one for free if yours is defective. Unless they just assume that you're a new customer and that's the activation fee. Or it's the "upgrade fee" they charge existing customers when they get a new phone through them. Which is ridiculous since you can swap in the SIM card you already have and it doesn't cost a thing. But..ya know... Verizon.

Verizon charges separately to active the new SIM which is a ripoff

I hope they'll actually release the white version with that orange power button.

I know. It's funny, if there's a problem with your SIM card, they'll send you a new one for free with fast shipping. But when you're spending a few hundred dollars, then they want to charge you to activate one. Benn with Verizon for almost 23 years (switched to an AT&T variant for a couple months 20 years ago). I don't stay out of loyalty or for the value. If anyone else could give me the coverage they do I'd drop them in a heartbeat.

I'm jealous to be honest, I got a iphone 11 but I miss android. The 4a looks perfect for me.

Iphone wireless charging is so real..... stuff bro I'll just saying that.

I'm happy for those of you that are picking one up but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared for what may or may not come of the 5. I've only bought the XLs of every Pixel since inception, However if there is no 5XL and or the phones are even smaller than the 4XL which is what I rock now, It may be the end of the road for me, which absolutely kills me as I'm a diehard pixel fan. I have large hands and have always loved large screened phones. I'd die before I rocked an iPhone and I left Samsung for the Pixel lines. Fingers crossed there will be a large 5XL, despite everything pointing to there not going to be.

I've read that the 4a 5G is larger, like an XL size but without the name. I haven't heard about sizes for the 5 though.

I got charged 2 fees because at the Apple store the ***** convinced my wife and daughter that they should get the Verizon model and use new SIMs. I called Verizon and they reversed the charge. They usually do for long term customers.

Having had my share of USB ports gone bad, I would definitely miss wireless charging.

On the other hand, getting the fingerprint sensor back would go a long way towards making up for the loss of wireless charging.

I've grown used to face unlock in my 4XL, but still wish it had retained the FPS ...

Didn't you just buy a Moto?

Yes I did - it's on its way back to Motorola - sim tray was damaged so it couldn't read the sim card. I'll use the 4a and see how I adapt to no wireless charging, still have a P4.

What little time I spent with the Edge, setting it up, I liked it. Motorola CS be very good to me.

Have been searching for a replacement for my 2XL, and looked at this, and the battery is smaller than what I have now. I know that it is not considered a replacement for the 2XL. I am passing and will wait to see what the next Pixel looks like
