If Google are serious about security though, it won't. You just can't get secure biometrics from a single, normal camera.
How does Samsung handle it on the 21 with facial ID. Don't they use the standard selfie camera? I ask cause I really don't know.
But wondering do they offer a facial unlock via the selfie camera but limit secured apps (like banks) to require a fingerprint?
Couldn't Google do the same?
Just wondering....
Not available for me in the UK.
Optimizing Apps is taking its good old Google sweet time about it. Yawn.
They do. I've never used it though, but I think it will unlock bank apps and such.
But the big deal is that Google just made a big song and dance about how their fingerprint is a little slow because it's SO much more secure.
Yours and mine both - after all this "optimizing time" I expect great things when it is done.
Between this and my P6 Pro sitting in Indy, I am not having a fun Pixel day - I need ice cream - and lots of it.
Same thing with a P6 I ordered - shipped from IL and then sat in Indy for a day - the P6P came from CA and is sitting in Indy - del day will be changed to tomorrow shortly, I'm sure. Not Google's fault - this is all in FedEx.
This calls for a steak/cheese/onion sandwich -
Please keep this on topic, the update.Same thing with a P6 I ordered - shipped from IL and then sat in Indy for a day - the P6P came from CA and is sitting in Indy - del day will be changed to tomorrow shortly, I'm sure. Not Google's fault - this is all in FedEx.

It took a few minutes short of an hour for it to be completed on my phone.I'm at the "Optimizing your device..." phase. Taking quite a while as others have already mentioned. I'm trying to remain optimistic.
I have to say, even with the hiccups with the FPS and Smart Lock, overall I really like this phone and I am pleased I upgraded.
I guess that means if "del day" is tomorrow, "deli day" is today! And with that, I know what I'm having for lunch...
Sorry for your delay, but every extra day = one more thing that might be improved by Google (though I'll chime in that in my experience, after taking into account the fact that every Pixel ever introduced is forced to carry the burden of initial issues that are from the new OS rather than itself, this phone is 100% a blast to use).
There's no way for any of us to know.

Don't we have two or three?
