Trying to run down the (assumed) differences between 6 and 6 pro beyond the normal hardware and performance differences we always saw between normal and XL versions in past (battery size, screen size, screen resolution) and obvious differences in physical size, weight, color, and pricing, based on leaks to date.

  • 6 Pro includes curved display vs 6's flat
  • 6 Pro specifies variable display refresh down to 10Hz; 6 supports variable rate, but undisclosed range
  • 6 Pro offers 120Hz refresh vs 90Hz on 6
  • 6 Pro adds UWB
  • 6 Pro offers 12MP front camera vs 8MP on 6
  • 6 Pro offers wide, 94° FOV on front camera
  • 6 Pro adds 48MP, 4x zoom (20x with 'Superres') Telephoto lens
  • 6 Pro offers 12GB RAM, vs 8GB on 6
  • 6 Pro supports 23W wireless charging, vs 21W on 6, with new Pixel Stand
  • 6 Pro adds additional storage tier option at 512GB
Please let me know if any of the above are confirmed wrong or if I'm missing others.

I don't see where the pro is THAT much better than the 6. 90 to 120 isn't that big a jump as 60 to 90 is. flat probably means better with tempered glass screen screen protectors. 8 GB ram is plenty, 12 is perhaps overkill. UWB? new tech not fully developed. Wireless charging speeds 21 vs 23 again not very significant. I guess other than the camera on the pro is the most compelling difference. But the smaller 6.4 inch display may be more attractive to many, including myself.

I'd prefer the flat glass of the 6, and, if I'm being honest, the less gigantic overall size. But the wealth of camera step-ups is too appealing, and as an extreme multi-tasker I'll actually benefit from the boost to 12GB. Curious to see how well implemented the 10-120Hz refresh is on the pro model, and how much of an efficiency pickup it offers against the 6 with presumably lesser stepdown.

After seeing a 3XL case next to the 6 Pro case, thanks to the 6 Pro's bezeless design it's almost the same size as the 3XL... which is what I carry. I was pleasantly surprised... I could carry the Pro no problem ;)

The flat glass is a big pull for me. Worth the other sacrifices. Why do the manufacturers insist on curved displays? What do they contribute besides making the screen more challenging to protect?

Exact same camera systems, then it would be a tougher choice. But it's gotta be pro all the way for me. I do like to take the occasional bad photo. .

I wouldn't mind the 6 but it lacks some things the 6pro will have so 6pro be my choice also , if they did it like iphone where the pro and pro max where close except battery and size then maybe i would go for the 6 .

If the P6 had the same camera as the Pro, then $850 would be reasonable. That's the biggest difference between the two IMO. I hate to admit this, but Apple's iPhone product line options make much more sense. I'm certainly missing some of the details as I don't pay much attention to Apple, but the phone size, some display options, battery size of course, and storage options seem to be the only major differences between the models.

Just a little over a week ago it was reported to be less than $750! One thing for sure, until officially released by Google; NO ONE knows for sure!
However, be interesting to compare a Pixel 6 at to the future S22 series of phones.

No worries about that. Because of the cost of the phone and it's small size, virtually all of them are air shipped. It's economical, and much easier to track and manage throughout the supply chain.

If the 6 were substantially more pocketable than the 6 pro, I may have gone for the smaller device and tolerated the spec trade-off (and be happy to save a few bucks). But they are both large phones. I have the S10e now and sure, the screen is not big, but it is so easy to hold. Neither of these Pixel phones will offer that. Might as well go all the way.

I totally agree. 6 pro doesn't seem like it's worth the +$300 in price. There's still no chip details on it yet like clock speed.
