Pixel 6.

I think I'll wait until the new Pixels with Google's own chip set is released. My $$ can only spread so far.

They supposedly collaborate with Samsung for the chip?
Yep. I think with the new chip we'll see better Android/phone integration and hopefully a few extra years of Android version updates (like Apple phones).

It is kinda exciting. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is announced. They are saying it may have Ultrawideband integrated into it as well.

The 6 will need to have a triple camera set up, a QHD display, and outstanding battery life, at a minimum, in order to even get me thinking about upgrading from my 4XL (which I still think is a great phone).

I too agree. My 4XL takes better pictures than my S21 Ultra. I won't even think about the 6 unless it has the specs you mentioned.

I would guess the 6 would have both Verizon 5g networks; Nationwide (sub 6) and ultra wideband (mm waves), since the Pixel 5 has it. Where I live, the chances of mmwaves coming to my area are probably day after hell thaws out after the freeze.

However, as I have stated, if it has on screen fingerprint sensor or facial recognition it is a no go for me.

On screen fingerprint is not practical for some of us (me), and facial recognition is the only thing I hate about my 4XL, the facial recognition is too slow to open most of the time. (Not blaming the phone for the time when we had to wear masks, but the speed to open is S L O W, when compared to the old fingerprint sensor on the back of my previous LG G7 phone.

So you consider a pixel again?

Absolutely! I wanted a OnePlus 9 phone but I'm not confident that the camera will perform to my liking; and I didn't want it to be the same as my S10 - where I love the phone, but the camera didn't meet my expectations. So now, I'm waiting for the 6's launch. Hopefully I like it.

Unless there is something that I absolutely just don't like about it, the Pixel 6 will be my new phone this Fall.

I just hope that this time it is sold in my country.
I usually change my mobile every two years and I only like the pixel line

Should be a solid phone , and hear that be 2 versions a regular and Xl

I had the XL, 2XL, and 3XL. Skipped the 4XL as I didn't see the upgrades as worthwhile for the cost, and my 3XL was working fine.

Last Fall, with it seeming assured Google wasn't going to have a 5 XL, I switched to the Galaxy S20 FE 5G as it looked to be a phenomenal value proposition, and I was able to get it for free after trading in my 3 XL.

I. Can't. Wait. For. A. New. Pixel.

The Samsung isn't bad by any reckoning - the screen is gorgeous and the battery life is just plain ridiculous (I still get over 8 hours SOT). But my experience, at least to me, is that Google is the gold standard for being "greater than the sum of its parts." Despite being 2 years older, the 3 XL consistently took better pictures - outside of telephoto and wide angle, but those aren't especially important to me. I'd rather have a camera that takes a nearly perfect picture 99% of the time than one that gets really close to it 75% of the time, even if the latter fulfills some rarely sought (again, for me) special use cases. Also while the bloat isn't all that bad, it's there, and the S20 FE just feels awkward to use even now, 7 months later.

Love the idea that they'll have a standard and XL model, though if the standard is at least 6" I may actually opt for that, if it isn't lacking any truly desirable features that the XL provides.

And please, keep the FPS on the rear. It's intuitive, NEVER fails (the S20FE requires conscious effort and still fails frequently - plus only supports 3 print images...), and, having been around so long, is still notably cheaper to implement, keeping costs down. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Oh, and as to that WhatHiFi article, pure clickbait. Nothing in it should be construed to indicate that they intend to announce anything about the Pixel 6 line (other than perhaps that it will exist). Saying that they "may" announce it is meaningless. And... WhatHiFi has been around for ages, but they are essentially an audio/video magazine/website. Great resource if you're looking to research options for a home theater or something like that, but looking to them for information about smartphones is like looking to a dentist for information on setting a broken arm.

My first Google phone a Pixel 4 is Over a year old and has worked without any faults or slowing down and battery life still lasts a full day, eventually it will be time for a new one, hopefully the Pixel 6/7 might be Flagship phones as every one after 4/4XL are midrange to keep prices low, the competitors offer top spec phones as well as low priced ones, I don’t wish to go back to I phone after my Pixel but it needs a real Flagship Pixel to keep me using a Google phone.

A useable Samsung DeX alternative (Android Desktop mode) via USB-C to HDMI out would be awesome. Google would need to spring the money for the USB Type C, HMDI Alt mode driver chip.

Tom's Hardware quote:
"HDMI support
We appreciate that Google wants to encourage people to buy a Chromecast, but there is no excuse for the Pixel 6 not to support HDMI video out via a USB-C to HDMI connector. Being able to hook your phone up to a TV in this way is super convenient, especially when traveling. Having to use a Chromecast (not to mention having to buy one in the first place) to get content from your phone to a TV feels so archaic, so this is something that Google could easily fix."

Battery capacity and a modern camera are a must.

Absolutely! I've heard and seen reports of the most recent Pixels delivering excellent battery life. Hopefully the Pixel 6 follows in that same direction.
