Pixel 8

Pre-ordered the regular 8 in hazel and did the $260 off Pixel watch offer as I already have the Buds Pro. I'm glad the regular pixel is smaller this year, but not thrilled at the neutered camera stuff compared to the pro. I wish Google would be more like Apple and offer two sizes of "Pro" phones. I'm willing to pay more for a smaller Pro. Let the A series be the cheap phone.

I had actually considered purchasing the 8 Pro, but some things have put the kibosh on that. (I'm currently running on a S22U 512g.) One is the over-reliance on AI by Google. I appreciate doing more with less, since that's the bane of working in the nonprofit world. However, it almost seems as if Google's being too smart by half. I'd prefer both top-shelf hardware and some AI to fill in the blanks. This seems to be tilted significantly towards software to compensate for the hardware. However, that was not enough to dissuade me. It's the price. In my case, I'd only do this for the 512g Pro 8, and the price is not nearly attractive enough (at present) to take a run at it. My plan is to keep the S22U as a backup device for me or my bride. Probably will wait to see if there are ridiculous Black Friday deals, or what the S24U looks like. As for all you Pixel adopters and fans, enjoy! I hope it's awesome for you!

I was just curious if I did better ordering direct from Google vs. Best Buy and Google wins (at least for me, trading in a good condition 6 pro). The Google trade estimate was $400 vs $355 from BB and G lets you pick your watch color...BB just gives you the black one.
All things equal, my preference is to go through Google (and I have with every update since my first Nexus 4), but between BB being far more generous with trade-in on the P7P and a harrowing experience with a mailed in trade-in to Google last year, I opted for that this time. Also just put it on Amex, so there's some extended coverage through them with purchase protection should anything happen to the device early on. Really hoping it doesn't turn out to have been a mistake.

In your shoes I'd have done the same as you, taking the better deal and advantage of Google's financing.

Anyone going from S23 Ultra to pixel 8 Pro?
Well, seeing as how I just got my S23 ultra a month ago, no. Lol

Loving being back on Samsung. Smoothest and snappiest phone I've had. I really thought the Pixel 7 pro would have the best experience being a trimmed down UI. It also just didn't feel that premium of a phone. I kind of lost trust in Google to make great hardware. Maybe in 2-3 years, I will give them another try.

"It also just didn't feel that premium of a phone." This is a concern for me, as well.

I could've waited for the 8 Pro but I hated that I only got $700 & $680 for both my 7 Pro's. Good thing I didn't buy these at retail.

I love the 7/Pro so much, I got 4 Pixels. I gave one 7 to my Mother. Upgraded her Huawei P30 Pro.

Poor resale is the reason why I'm not getting it.

I was excited about reports the 8 Pro would be smaller. I think I got snookered - it's a whopping .01" smaller height and width, and. 04" for the camera bump.

I'm pretty happy with my 7 and normally keep a phone for a couple of years. However I am tempted with the brighter screen and 7 years of updates. Hoping battery life might be a bit better on the 8 so will have to wait to see what you guys think. I'm with Google Fi and and they're already offering me the 8 for 399.00

I think that's a good reason to update this year with the nits going up on the phone and the 7-year updates for a lot of people... Definitely waited out to hear the reviews from our members here and others
