Pixel 8

Planning to order my P8P at launch. My P6P has had lackluster reception recently, whether it's a P6P issue or VZW issue, I'm not sure. Also, cracked my screen late last year, not huge, but annoying, so I'm looking forward to the new phone.

May also upgrade my Galaxy Active 2 to a Pixel Watch 2. Current watch is still working fine, but probably some improvements/advancements in the last 4 years.

I try and make 3 years, bought a 7 Pro (from a Oneplus 8t) on launch day (spent a couple of nervous weeks waiting for my back glass to randomly explode on it's own, it didn't) And really enjoying being back with Google for the second time since my Nexus 4, which was also glass and used to walk off tables when you were not looking, So I got a Kaseta Old Brown leather case.
I really like the combination so will try and skip the 8 and 9.
Interested to see how the SOC is evolving though.

Bit off-topic, but the Nexus 4s suicidal tendancies were such fun! Mine threw itself off a 6 foot shelf onto a tile floor once... surprisingly survived undamaged.

Mine is unmarked too (I sort of remember buying a bumper?) sadly won't power on for more than 20 seconds I'm guessing the battery decided to end things when they jumping failed?

I'd like to trade in my P6Pro for the 8 if the trade in deals are good... but I'm new to owning multiple newer phones, I usually get one at a time on clearance sales and keep them for 3-4 years.

Owning both the Flip 3 and the 6Pro, I've found that between switching them out I really haven't used them that much. Plus I bought several cases for each I haven't even used yet. So honestly they're in new condition with new unused cases, and it feels like I'm not really getting the value out of them for the trade-ins, seems a little wasteful ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am used to buying 1-2 year old flagships "for clear them out" prices, then running them usually until the batteries start to go. But it's nice fun to have the more modern devices. It's not for the cheapskates at heart though lol.

I guess you gotta pay to play 😉 When I saw the extended software support being offered by Samsung and Google I thought "alright! I can keep my phones even longer". I'm wondering if that's still in the cards for me 😂

Will certainly consider, but the size , weight, and specs would have to be more in-line with my current S23. Sadly, it doesn't seem they will, given the current leaks. Trade-in would have to be generous too.

Looks like both version of the pixel 8 will come with flat display no more curves and the tensor 3 getting different components in the cores

The article doesn't mention an upgrade to the FPS. I thought I heard the 8 will be getting the faster ultrasonic type? I know the FPS has been a pain point for a lot of folks for the last couple of years and I know I often have to try twice to unlock my P6P.

I haven't heard about the fingerprint but good point, I hope that it's improved because out of all my devices the 7po has most missed ratio lol

I'll probably get one but not on launch day. Will wait and see some of the reviews first.

I thought I heard that as well. It's been awhile though. On a related note, anyone heard anything about face unlock? My Pixel 4 had it, P6P does not, and I'm not really a big fan of FPS, esp when it doesn't work well. Seems face unlocked was short lived but believe Apple still uses it.

Face unlock is on my Pixel 7 pro but doesn't really work well in less than ideal lighting
