Pixel Bluetooth issues

I'm having issues as well with Bluetooth in my 2016 Camry. At first, I could only get it to connect for media, until I finally figured out that my Gear S2 was set up to be used for call audio, so as soon as I turned that off, it connected to the car properly. My current and constant issue is that while listening to music, the audio will drop out randomly, just for a split second at a time, and then continue playing. It's almost like a CD skipping or something. Beyond that, I've not had issues with it disconnecting or anything else. I have also had the same issue with the audio skipping in my work vehicle, which is a 2016 Escape, so I know it's not my car.

So for the first couple days my new pixel connected to my car flawlessly, but I just saw mention of 7.1. I updated to 7.1 and now for some reason I always have to turn bluetooth on, on my phone. so I'm not sure if I can do something to just have bluetooth on, on the phone all the time. And, I'm going to try to pair it with my ford sync AGAIN (3rd time) because since 7.1, I can't get the phone to acknowledge media, just phone - which drives me nuts because I love being able to play my google play - playlists while I drive. If anyone has tips on this out there, I'd really appreciate it. I love this damn phone so far (only had a week) but the bluetooth issues are now slowly driving me insane.

Should be pretty straight forward. Do you have the Media Audio option checked in Bluetooth option for the Ford?

I am using my Pixel XL in my Mercedes (both an '17 S550 and a '16 C-class) and the Bluetooth works very well in both. Amazingly crystal clear sound. I guess Mercedes must use fairly current Bluetooth technology? Any how, I just posted in case anyone with a current Mercedes was thinking about getting the Pixel.

I just started to experience a stuttering/skipping issue on Bluetooth. At first, I thought it might be a problem with the Spotify app. However I noticed that the problem did not happen with playback through the phone's speaker or a wired headset. The problem also happens with multiple bluetooth devices so it is not a problem with any one specific bluetooth device. This is very annoying and the weird thing is that it just started to happen yesterday. I tried unparing then re-paring the bluetooth devices but that did not help. Any advice?

Spotify has had some issues when playing over bluetooth, particularly with cars, but they claim the latest updates were supposed to fix them. There is a discussion on the Spotify forums.

It's not limited to the Spotify app, at least not in my experience since I don't even have Spotify and I have skipping. I've had skips using Google Play Music (my main music app) and also TuneIn radio.

FYI I've factory reset my Pixel XL this morning and I will do more testing with GPM and TuneIn in the next few days to see if I still have skips. This really, really sucks.

And in the meantime we will continue to see articles and various publications on line saying that this issue and the LTE issue has been addressed with the Dec uodate. This will have worked for many, but for the unlucky ones like me who is on my third replacement and the many others with issues will have to continue to wait till who knows how long before this is PROPERLY addressed

well that didn't work. I did the Google only suggestion of "factory reset your phone to fix all issues!" and I still got a skip in my music. Sure it took way longer than normal, but I was unable to get through one 70 min album without a skip.

Wasted my time factory resetting my phone and losing all my customization and saved app data for this. Thanks for nothing Google!

That sucks. Factory resets are a major pain. They should address the issue at hand instead of telling people to perform a burdensome factory reset when they don't know if it will help. My music on bluetooth is still skipping like crazy. Not happy

Just got through a Google support chat on the Pixel. They told me to contact my carrier to get a replacement phone.

Wow - this thread is discouraging. My issue is the bluetooth will not automatically connect even though the car unit is paired and made a trusted device. I have to manually connect every time I get in the car, and every other time, I have to do it twice or it does not connect. Truth - I do not know if this is all the Pixel's problem, but my old Moto X 2013 alsways connected automatically. Google needs to fix this, seriously!

All they want to do is issue new phones! Do they have that many phones with defects? If they do, their entire quality Dept should be fired? They would rather issue a replacement is their way of saying in so many words that they aren't going to rectify the situation to find out why and maybe the person returning the phone would just luck out and get one slightly better then what they previously had

At this point I don't care. If they send me a replacement and it works, then i'm happy.

Good Luck with that! 3rd replacement here and this one is just as bad as the other two I had previously. Maybe you will be lucky

Thanks for dashing my hopes lol

Didn't do it intentionally. I seriously wish you good luck. You may be lucky with this one. Personally from my experience as many others do not have any issues, I believe it is software related and not hardware. A person should not have to go through many phones to get a good one. I could see a one time or maybe two time replacement at most for someone to keep saying its hardware.

Plus all of this aside and not only with the Pixel but with many other companies as well, how do you think that most would view the company in their eyes when the next product from them comes out, in having to say something like "I went through 3, or 4 or 5 replacements before I got a good one. Makes someone think they are dealing with a non reliable product and or company. I tend to stay away from companies and products like this, but many others are not bothered by the fact as I said many others are not facing any of the same issues. If it was a software thing that could be corrected I would place much more hope in a company like that knowing that they were going to work on things or are working on things to make them better. But this many replacements on a phone?

Rebooting my phone fixes all of my bluetooth issues. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it might help some. Once or twice a week, when I start my Tundra, the phone doesn't connect. I can then go into settings and tell it to connect. It will connect, but then SMS and other things no longer work. Now when it doesn't connect, I reboot and it connects just fine and all other functionality works as well.
