Pixel Bluetooth issues

Greetings,

Thought I would start a new thread specifically about Bluetooth if anybody is having issues...

In my case I am unable to totally pair my Pixel to my 2016 Honda Pilot infotainment system. The device will pair and seem to be connected as I can stream music from my device. However, if somebody sends me a text the Pilot does not acknowledge it. If somebody calls, the Pilot touchscreen will start to ring and if I tap on Answer call, it acts like it answers but it actually doesn't. My phone keeps ringing and I have to answer the call and talk on my phone. Sometimes the car will still think it's in a call even when I tap the hang up button on the touchscreen in the car.

It was mentioned in the gripes thread that it could be an issue with how Google does Bluetooth. If a Bluetooth headset is connected to your phone when you try to connect your phone to the vehicle, it won't work because Google's Bluetooth only allows one device. In my case I have a both a Gear Live smartwatch (android wear) and the Gear Fit 2.. yes, I'm a geek. If I disconnect both of them, then connect my phone I actually got it to work once, but even then when I hung up on the car touchscreen, it still thought it was connected. I assume it's the Android Wear device since that has a mic in it....

In the past I've always had an iPhone or Galaxy devices and they have never had any issues with any car systems. It's not quite to deal breaker status yet, but thought I'd at least start a thread about it in case others run into similar issues.

In my case, I can pair it just fine, but when somebody sends me a text while I'm driving, I get nonstop on-screen and sound notifications, one right after the other from everyone who has ever sent me a text, until I have to actually disconnect the Bluetooth from the car. Totally annoying!

I experienced this for the first time this weekend in or Ford Flex. I have not experienced it yet in the Audi.

Thanks for the update. My Silverado is the same generation as your Sierra so I will switch back to my Pixel and give it a try now that I've installed the update.

I do have a salesperson with a Pixel XL and 2011 Silverado. I will have him try it and get back with me.

I have a 2016 Mazda6 and a Verizon Pixel XL. Prior to the 7.1.1 update, my phone would connect and stream music fine, but if I got a text message it would either never prompt me on the screen or just disconnect. I received the update last night and everything works flawlessly now. I was streaming music via bluetooth and text messages were popping up and being read to me and never had a drop. It works now with my Pixel like it did with my GS6. For me, this update has fixed my issues.

I still have initial connection issues with Ford Sync 3 and BMW. Once I get it connected it works okay, but it will not connect automatically like other phones. It is pretty much identical behavior to what I experienced before the update.

I can confirm that my end user in a 2011 Silverado is still having Bluetooth issues under 7.1.1

Have you found any help with the Bluetooth problems? When I connect to my car (2016 Fusion - Ford Sync) it alerts me of every single text I've received on my phone since the last time it was connected to the car, even though they've already been read. I've worked with Google support & Verizon both. Per their suggestions the phone has repeatedly been reset to factory settings, network settings reset, there are 2 messenger services (Google's and Verizons) so I've made sure only one was enabled at a time, I've used either one to see if that was the problem etc. Nothing worked. The Verizon store tried to help and couldn't fix it so they had a new one sent to me. It STILL does the same thing the other one did. :( There are a few other things I don't like about this phone so far. I got it as a replacement phone after I had to return two Samsung Galaxy Note 7's due to the recall. I should've just went back to the Note 5.

I have the same issue in our 2013 Flex with sync. It's not a huge issue for me since it's my wife's main driver and I drive something else. It is annoying though every time I connect and see older messages fly by and since I don't connect often there are a lot of messages. I'm sure Google will get it sorted out how quickly I don't know.

This cracks me up. Usually us Ford owners have the problems.

I have had problems on my UK Ford Sync when connected to my Pixel.

It always gives me notifications for every text I've received since the last time I was in the vehicle (even if they've been read on the device) which often leads to notifications constantly for >20mins most journeys.

Oneplus 3t.

Well I came into this thread to check on this, thought maybe there was a software update or something but I see it's still an issue. I've sent 2 phones back. Done waiting for a fix so I'm out for good. Ordered a 3t and can't wait to get it.

I think Google messed this up in Nougat, understanding it works okay with some bluetooth devices and not others. Every phone I have tried with 7.0 or higher has had issues. HTC 10, for example had no issues with 6.0.1, but will not automatically connect and has issues with text messages, etc. in my truck since the Nougat update. I tried the V20 -- same issues, but the G5 had been fine. It will be interesting to see how the other manufacturers deal with the problems. Do they wait for Google to fix them or do they try to fix the problems themselves. It looks like some issues were noted in Samsung's Beta version of Nougat, but they may have been fixed in the last beta update, according to to a couple users. Getting the latest and greatest updates has its downside, too.

I have had zero bluetooth issues with any device I have... 2014 Honda Accord... bluetooth headset, bluetooth speaker... all no issues....

It happened to me twice. I found 2 fixes for my situation. One, I cleared cache, cleared data. Two, I changed to a different sms app, one that I prefer anyway. Either way made Sync stop dinging.

Hi everyone,
I finally managed to fix my pixel to car Bluetooth issues. Bluetooth would always connect but sometimes the car couldn't see it as an "Audio device" and no sound would play. It's been like this since i recieved the phone in October so thought it was the cars system not being compatible or something. Then I found if i rebooted my Pixel to safe mode, it synced with the car straight away, and the car interface displayed all the song, album and artist info. So, what was causing it, after much uninstalling of apps, I found one called "Headset Droid", i'm not even sure what it does, all i know is that the moment i uninstalled it, the car audio kicked into life and everything worked like a dream!! Am so relived to finally get it working. I'm using the standard size Pixel, on 7.1 connecting only via Bluetooth to an Audi A1. A lot of the posts here lead me in the right direction so thanks everyone! Hopefully this might help somebody else out there :)

Thank you for sharing. My question is, where do you find the "Headset Droid" app from? Thanks!
