Pixel C bugs and app issues

Pixel c vs tab s2, internet speed. The one with lower speed is pixel c. My Internet connection is 50 down and up. My router is down stairs, I'm on the second floor.

Crap. I have a feeling this is a harware thing. But I guess it could be software.

Does anyone have good wifi speeds?

Shoot, this is a legit problem. I guess there had to be one...

Pixel C - 17 Mbps down
N9 - 27 Mbps down
N6 on Wifi - 30 Mbps down

Pixel is slower on wifi. I've been using it for 3 days and havent noticed at all during regular use. But the test is pretty clear. Or is this just one of those Wifi A/C/N or 2.4gh vs 5gh things? I mean like is thing thing optomized for some protocol, and I am using it on another?

I dont think this is on our end. My hunch is that it is a software/firmware issue. Its just too weird that my upload is fine and fast but my download is not.

I posted the issue on the nexus support forum here:

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/nexus

Is there a more direct way to contact the Pixel team that anyone knows of. Might need Phil Mickelson's help in bringing attention to this. I am just loving this device and am doing all my forum/reddit/twitter posts on this thing and it is great. This WiFi issue is kind of a big deal though. :/

Go to the pixel c page, click support, and chat with them or ask for a call.

Ok great. I have some things to take care of first but I will do this today. I feel like they will just have me factory reset it and I kind of don't want to do that. :/

Anyone notice scrolling is a bit less sensitive to swipes and more sensitive to taps? I notice I end up opening links instead of scrolling as opposed to using same pressure as I do on N9 or 6P.

I have a UK version, most of the [...] shortcuts ( { } [ ] ' ~ \ | ) only appear to work for me if I set the the pixel c keyboard to English (US).

I found that the following ones work in English (UK) mode

... + 4 = €
... + , = ~
... + . = $

Basically that key appears to be working as an AltGr key. Personally, I would have preferred them to print the symbols on the keys so I don't have to look them up somewhere.

Not a bug, but for the price I would have liked the keyboard to have been backlit as well.

I am seeing touch screen issues as well. Swipes aren't as easy to do and I randomly tap things I didn't mean too. I really hope this gets addressed as we already saw one firmware update. Compared to me Nexus 6P, tap.swipes aren't as reliable.

I have had my Pixel C for about 2 weeks. Starting a few days ago the touch screen responsiveness changed drastically. Now when I scroll up or down the page movements are very jittery, and as others have noted, I find that swipes are often turned into touches so I wind up going to linked pages when I was just trying to scroll. Perhaps most frustrating is that frequently when I swipe down the page will scroll all the way up as if I had swiped up. Plus the whole unit now seems laggy. I haven't added any new apps or data, nor have I changed any settings, so I am completely baffled as to what could have caused this. I thought it might me malware, but I ran a scan and nothing showed up. Anybody else experiencing anything like this?

So I locked the orientation, wiped the cache and rebooted, and it is back to running as smooth as before.

Mine has been running much smoother locked in landscape (which I just realized after using my Nexus 9 that this is unique to Pixel C as other tablets have only portrait versus auto-rotate). I now also use ultimate rotation control to force those apps that don't display in landscape to use landscape although since it doesn't snap to a native portrait aspect ration it stretches and makes some kinda hard to navigate, E.G. I want to love my Pixel C. The screen is beautiful and the battery life is amazing. But the touchscreen responsiveness and WiFi issues are really annoying. Unless a serious software update comes out before the return deadline, it looks like I will be returning my Pixel C. I had really high hopes for this as a replacement for my Galaxy Note 10.1.

I've had the Pixel C for a couple of weeks now and the issues I've experienced are mounting. First of all the WiFi speeds are not good unless I'm near the router which many others are experiencing, occasionally it I'll lock up and I'll have to give it a minute to catch up and start working well again and then I've had random occasions when the screen won't come on when I push the on/off switch so I'll have to hold it down for 10-20 seconds until it does a reboot. I really want to keep the device but feel like its got some issues that need repairing. Maybe it's just a bad unit but several of my issues have been reported by other users.

Just ordered mine today. Has Google mentioned anything at all about future updates, and or features? Starting to get a little concerned reading these comments. ><

They commented at launch on 6mo updates and hinted at bigger things to come.

If you're buying the Pixel C under the assumption its a great 10" Android tablet with a great optional keyboard you won't be disappointed - so long as you also are aware that there are some bugs, some of which are obnoxious, eg touchscreen and WiFi. That said, you do have 14 days which should be enough time to decide.

Give it a whirl and decide for yourself, you don't lose anything really ... Just keep the boxes and shipping box and open carefully so you can easily return it if the need arises.

You are not alone. These issues are pretty widespread it seems. I hope there is an update soon. The devs are aware of the wifi issue at the very least:

Well only took a month to get all my issues worked out, touch issues are gone ... The Nexus 9 languished for almost a year before I could use it without pulling my remaining hair out. The Feb updates seemed to make the tablet closer to what most were expecting (besides the multitasking yadda yadda).

Figured I'd post one last time here on this, if anyone finds this, Feb 2016 sec patch updates fixed a lot of issues with early release Pixel C bugs.
