I have had Verizon for over 10 years and the service was phenomenal. Last 4 months I am getting dead zones where I can not use internet or call out where previously I had no problems... which was everywhere!
My husband is having the same issue with his 4 XL also. Just completed a warranty exchange and having the same issue on the third phone. Changed from Global to LTE and not much of a difference. I don't believe that its the phones, is there something going on with Verizon? I am ready to jump ship.

Have you contacted Verizon? Where I live, Verizon has had no problems. I would report it and give them some specific locations where it fails. I'm also on a Pixel 4XL.

I do ask, if both phones have recently been updated to Android 12. I know the Pixel 4XL should have been and after mine updated, I was having some strange problems and I pulled the SIM card out, re-tarted the phone, waiting till it booted up and stated no SIM, turned it off, then re-inserted the SIM card, and those strange problems (such as visual voicemail for one) disappeared.

In a sense, this resets mobile without going into the Settings>System>Reset Options>Reset WI-Fie, Mobile and Bluethooth.

Doing the reset under systems will reset the mobile but as it says, also wi-fi and bluetooth. The SIM card removal / install save having to do the bluetooth pairing and the wi-fi password.

Worth a try; nothing to lose. Might or might not work. Sometimes a new SIM card might work too. Usually get one for free from any Verizon factory store; some Verizon franchises might charge, might not.

I did contact them and they just say no outages in the area. Just weird that three pixel 4xl's are acting the same way. I have a sim that came with my replacement, will try to activate it.
I did some digging and apparently Verizon has been having problems rolling out the 5G. Many people are complaining that their service has gotten worse.
At least they know they have a problem. If they don't fix it fast, many will jump ship.

I was going to say it seems like Verizon's in such a hurry to roll out their new cash cow, 5G, which nobody asked for, that they're sacrificing their current service. Like you said, it's hurting their reputation. Greed can sink the biggest ships  ;)
