Pixel or Pixel XL?

I'm leaning towards the 5 inch Pixel but I'll wait for them to launch so I can check them out in-store.

It is definitely a downgrade. You would lose the great audio, sense UI, fantastic build quality, bigger display, and the SD card. the Pixel is much worse than the HTC 10.

How can anybody speak definitively on the phone without having used it? Also, HTC is manufacturing the Pixels, so it's hard to imagine build quality would be weaker than the 10.

So - considering my options now. Have used larger phones for the past couple of years now, but am seriously considering the switch back to something in the 5" or less range.

If you had your choice, what would you go with? The Pixel or Pixel XL?

I think that it depends on wether or not the size will affect the vr headset experience

We know for a fact that Audio is worse, compared to the HTC 10. We know for a fact that it has a large bottom bezel. The Pixel also doesn't have OIS. These are facts. The display resolution of the Pixel is also less than what the HTC 10 offers.
In these regards it is certainly a downgrade coming from the HTC 10. Having to pay a premium price for a downgrade in these areas does not feel right to me.

I don't like large phones. 5" is the limit for me. If you are considering a 5" phone then you should go with pixel. Because 5" and 5.5" have no spec difference except for the battery size. But the smaller the display the less it consumes battery.

For me, I've had larger phones in the past, I think I will go for the 5in Pixel

I've ordered the 5inPixel! Was using a Moto X Pure for a almost a year, but when the headphone jack stopped working k switched to the $60 Amazon phone (which has been mostly fine with some intermittent major bugs), and I just love the 5in screen size. The Pure was just too big in my pocket.

You're selectively analyzing aspects/components and not the entirety of the phone. By all accounts - although admittedly limited, thus far - the camera is better. I just don't understand the need to make conclusions regarding the total package before actually experiencing the device.

I've been using big phones ever since my first Android with the HTC desire HD. And since then the screens have only gotten bigger ending with my present Note 5. I find it weird to use a phone with a smaller screen now. I used my friends iPhone 6s and it felt funny on my hand.
So its the Pixel XL for me

Choice is good. You have decided that the HTC 10 is the right choice for you. For others, the waterproof nature of the GS7 is required.

It is unrealistic for me to hope for, but at some point folks need to realize that Google designed and priced the Pixel for based on Google's vision, not theirs. And haven't we all learned that Google is not afraid to make mistakes? They are a business built on innovation...there isn't innovation without mistakes. We also need to remember that innovation is often evolutionary, not revolutionary.

That said, I am unwilling to call the Pixel a mistake yet (not that it's my right). We obviously do not have access to their current order number, but back order notices make it clear that there are people who want these devices. Will they make money? Of course. Will they sell as many phones as the iPhone or GS7? I doubt it, but what says they need to for it to be a profitable or a success? Not once during the event did we hear them describe how they will be measuring success.
