Pixel/Pixel XL - 7.1.1 OTA Discussion Thread

both devices are google store on Fi. in Davisburg MI - 50 miles nw of Detroit. Pixel received the update via push and notification -- I initiated the install. Pixel XL did not get push -- I searched for it after I saw that it had come through in the little brother. Download was fast, installation is taking fffoooorrrrreeeeeeevvvvvveeeeeerrrr on both of them. Meantime both continue to function.

Exactly. One device received a push and notification, while the other hadn't received it yet. That's the way updates usually work. Devices, even those located in the same house, cannot be expected to receive simultaneous updates. They may in fact receive updates several days apart.

The updating process has to be regulated; otherwise the servers would crash.

Updated to 7.1.1 but notice my battery isn't as great as before on 7.1. Anyone else with this?

Any apps using more battery that you can see? Or just overall is not as good?

These showed up when looking : screen 3%, android system 3%, android os 2%, phone idle 1%, bluetooth 1%, google services 1%, skype 1% and I got 87%. Before the update I would get the exact results as these and it would've still been in the low 90s%. I also noticed that unplugging from the charger it would not reach 100% but 99% instead.

Made some time and side loaded the OTA via adb. Hate connecting my phone to laptop but hate waiting for OTA more.

I found the newest Facebook app software update to be draining my battery. I removed the app and mine has been good ever since then

Google Store Pixel XL on T-Mobile, still waiting for OTA.

I bought mine through project Fi and ended up doing a factory reset because I couldn't get Allo to act right. I'm also on T-Mobile, but when I put my Fi sim into the phone to set Fi up again, I received the software update notification only to see it disappear and has yet to resurface, whether I use Fi or T-Mobile. Grrrr! I thought I was on my way.

Just downloaded the update. I am on VZ. All went well. I went to the updates in system and got it that way.

Unless I'm missing something, it appears that only Verizon phones are getting the OTA so far. Maybe they have an exclusive with Google for that, too.

I got the OTA on the same day google released it (5th of Dec). Unlocked phone bought from UK, now residing in Finland. Also others here have received the 7.1.1 update.

Might be that the rollout has been stopped but dunno. This is always the biggest problem with google updates. You never klnow when it will actually roll out to your phone.

Yes you are missing something, people on different carriers and who bought from Google store are getting updates. It just rolls out in stages and takes weeks before everyone gets it. If you want it immediately you can easily side load the OTA. And no there will never be exclusive on a OTA updates because that doesn't make sense and not a selling feature. Most people buying from carrier store are clueless about android versions :)

Just got mine. Google Store Pixel XL on T-Mobile. Going to download it now. View attachment 247552

Bought mine Friday at Best Buy. Got home, unboxed, took out Verizon sim card and put in my ATT sim, fired it up, entered my info and this this popped up.

Unlike others who have had issues with buying "Verizon" phones and no OTA this was almost instant and had no issue
