Pixel & Pixel XL Pricing Rumors

Was this when Samsung was becoming the top Android maker?

Think they meant "within the elitist Android nerd community that will kill any trace of lag with the fire of the suns of Tatooine" ... because without that specificity it'd lack earnest.

I am sure you have been arround long enough to remember... Heck just what 3 or 4 years ago everyone hated Samsung and loathed TW.. Now with their multi billion dollar marking they are the best? LOL

Still garbage in my mind and I'd never buy one... Loaded to the hilt with gimmicks and junk. The hardware is the exact same that every other high end manufacturer is using so the only difference is the billions spent advertising telling everyone how great it is.. Hey people buy it so I guess that just goes to prove advertising does in fact work!

Within the nerd communities here they've been hounded for their software and I've personally given them a TON of grief over their button configuration of which I'm not a fan. But in the marketplace, they've never been second rate. They've been putting out some of the best hardware and definitely the best selling hardware consistently since Android became popular. They're in no small way the reason that Android is popular.

Those darn elitists.

Those darn elitists.

speaking of elitists.... I'd love to see a Pixel phone with
18k gold-plated exterior, selling for around $2,000-ish?
(like Apple's $2000 18k gold-plated Apple Watch?) :)

That strategy has made Apple richer than 60% of the nations on this planet.

keep your gold and give me a lightbar like the pixel, pixel and pixel C and i'll get you your $2000.

shouldn't that be "get you your $1351" ???
(assuming the price is $649, the gold one
costs only $1351 extra)

Really? The exact same? They have an iris scanner? An active stylus? IP68 certified? They have MST technology for their payment solution? They of course support both Qi and PMA wireless charging standards?

Agree.. It's amazing what advertising $$$$ can do... Samsung will need to double down on advertising $$$ after the Note 7 mess to clean up their image though..

Been on an airplane lately? They announce NO Samsung phone can be on, used or charged during the flight.. Now to the non techie consumer, that will stick in their head along with the 24/7 news cycle that constantly warned consumers about Samsung phones.

Is it fair? Nope but it is what it is and Samsung will have to spend, spend, spend to clean up their image...

That would be pure awesome sauce! Love the lightbar on my Pixel LS..

I doubt we will ever see it on the phone but that sure would be sweet'ness! :D

almost everything about the new Pixel and Pixel XL phones have been leaked out... not sure what else is left, probably just software stuff?

which makes me wonder.... I don't think I've seen anything that justifies the $650 price tag. (assuming the $650 price tag rumor turns out to be true) Is there one person here who is willing to pay $650 plus tax? :)

Still missing information about whether or not they're utilizing the DAC that comes with the SD821, whether or not it supports USB Power Delivery, we know that it comes with the full version of assistant but haven't gotten many details on exactly what that entails.

I won't pay $650 for the regular one in 32 GB if that's the price, but I'll pay $850 for the XL 128 GB - or however much it is. Here's why: Of all the phones released prior to the Pixel, it seems likely that zero of them are going to be updated to Android P and also likely that only 2-3 devices are set up properly to be able to receive Android O. One of the biggest drivers of that likelihood is that Android P and possibly Android O will require devices to be set up correctly to receive seamless updates, which requires the dual partitions they spoke about at I/O in 2016. If that restriction is accurate, then the Pixel phones are likely to be the only 2016 phones that will be properly updated and we'll have to pay close attention to see what the Q1 and Q2 devices do on that front - if they are non-compliant on that point, this may be the only phone in the next 9-12 months worth buying for anyone who cares about security and/or being on current software.

We'll have to wait until tomorrow to say for sure. I personally don't think any phone is worth that much; but it's the market price for premium phones. So, if we consider it premium after tomorrow, that's the "correct" price.

Raises hand and will purchase the instant it's available for pre-order...

I am probably going to go for the 128GB version so I assume I am looking at $700-$750 if the rumored pricing is correct for the 32GB Pixel...

Not a deal breaker for me and will be buying it without 2nd thought...

This is an excellent point... and one that has me seriously considering the $400 phones (OP3, in particular). I figure I can always buy a OP5 in a couple of years and still be under $850 OOP (after 2 phones)... and I expect the OP5 will have the dual partition setup as well. Maybe the OP4 will have it. But I don't see buying another phone for at least the next 2 years once I decide between the Pixel XL and whatever else is hot when I pull the trigger. I'm kinda choking on the $800+ prices for the big flagships these days... iP7+/N7/Pixel XL/V20, etc. At least in comparison to what I'm learning is available for half that price.

I'm still waiting to see what the Pixel brings to the table when it comes out tomorrow. I hope it will be black and white so I can pull the trigger tomorrow. But realistically, it may have to wait for a bit for a few testers to shake it out before I can know what I think of it (living vicariously here). ;)

Wait and see seems to be the wise theme of this year.
