Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

There are stories upon stories on Google groups with everyone dealing with these issues. Other that that I love everything else about the phone but would love it even more if it held on to a connection and signal and I could actually use it as intended. To make a call! I don't think that's asking too much

I agree completely. Love the phone but dropping 5-10 calls a day is not worth it.

I have not called Verizon yet.....

The thing is that this is not a consistent as many people have problems with signal and dropped calls etc, many don't. It comes down to are you willing to take the chance until Google comes up with and releases a fix for all of this
Of course most will wait until they do. Remember the iphone you had to hold a special way to get a signal? Hardware not software. If this were a software problem I would like to think it would be fixed by now.

When the iPhone 7 was released it took 17 days for a fix with the same problem dropped calls poor signals non existent signal and that was software

Google is too busy working on their VR apps and gadgets and not fixing what appears to be broken

Bad bug? You can't even use the pixel as a PHONE.

Thats as bad as it gets IMHO. This is the reason I've totally decided against getting one. Yeah, it could be fine or NOT. If not then there is the hassle of replacements when none are available. Or a refund if it acts up within first 14 days. Why roll those dice when the phone I have works for calling just fine. If this were me and my phone consistently dropped calls I'd be livid and jumping on either Verizons *** or Googles or both. Totally unacceptable.
I hope you get it sorted out. Until one or the other acknowledges this issue in a more positive way nothing will get done. One thing for certain after the recent iphone7 similar fiasco and then this I will no longer be an early adopter. Good luck.

That doesn't mean it's not a bug still?
There is no worse bug except maybe a note 7 catching fire

If it works fine for some people on Verizon, then there must be some factor that triggers that issue. I see that some of you already replaced the phone, which most likely rules out a hardware defect. It leaves only a local network issue. If I were you, I would report it to Verizon as a network problem and try to escalate it. Older phones might not experience the same problem if they use CDMA instead of LTE for calling for example.
Another possibility is it can be fixes by a phone software update, but that update might only use some workaround for badly behaving networks. I wonder if it's related to a similar iPhone 7 issue. I read that it was fixed by a software update, but I didn't find what the actual cause was.

I think I read something about band 4 which Verizon utilizes

Yeah, LTE band 4 seems to be the primary target of these issues (and not necessarily just on VZW). The conditions to reproduce the issue seem to be a bit more narrow than just being connected to LTE band 4, however.

Band 4 works fine for me on Verizon. It's also the main LTE band for T-Mobile and AT&T uses it as well, but I didn't see any of T-Mobile or AT&T users reporting this problem.

Even some on sprint are experiencing the same issues. Doesnt appear to be a lot but I've read on here I'm confused

Oh I agree. The reason I am inclined to call it a bug versus hardware since some have gotten replacements and still see it -- and some of us never see it. Unless they are just unlucky and getting bad hardware batches from their replacements as well it makes me want to lean towards software. Especially since Google acknowledged the issue.

What James said is correct. Band 4 is a main band on T-Mobile (screenshot below of my phone right now).

To those who are suggesting this is a Verizon problem, I have experienced the same issue with Sprint, so I don't the issue is carrier or network-specific. I haven't had any dropped calls yet, but I have lost LTE data several times while trying to stream video.

I haven't had any dropped calls but I get a "No Internet connection" popup constantly at work when I never had the issue with my note 7. It's only in this area so far though and sprint is good here so I'm not sure.

Getting really frustrated

How has this not receive recall status with the different networks all being affected? Are the replacement phones working better?

It wouldn't be recall worthy if it's a software issue (because they can push an update to fix it in the field). If it turns out to be a hardware issue, that's a different story.

What do you think Google would do if this was a hardware issue?
