Turning off VoLTE a.k.a. Advanced Calling can solve your issue for now, but I wouldn't count on it as a long term solution. Verizon is planning to completely shut down CDMA by the end of 2019 and VoLTE will be the only choice then.

I understand it's still 3 years away, but even now Verizon already has many LTE-only towers that don't broadcast CDMA signal at all. As time goes, you will find even more of these LTE-only zones where you won't be able to make calls without VoLTE.

The only good solution is to report the LTE signal drop issues to Verizon, so they could fix problematic towers.

Just read an article on the home page of Android Central about people in Canada receiving notification of a update that includes lift to wake and double tap and it even mentions although it has not been confirmed or reported that it may address the 4G lite issues many are experiencing

Side note, does anyone know of an app that keeps a log of cell connection info? Most of the time I'm not looking at my phone. I may not be seeing when or how often signal is dropping out etc. If there's an app that keeps a continuous log that would be helpful. I see Signal Spy has a history feature but not sure what it does.

Well, I guess I over reacted. When I am at home or inside I am on wifi. When I leave in vehicle I turn on Android Auto which turns off my WiFi anyway. So my times of starting a call on wifi and switching to CDMA will be rare. So until Google/Verizon really fix the problem, leaving advanced calling off is the best work around for right now.

I was looking at a thread in the Google forums on this. So far the update not helping the LTE issues.

And the question remains, why do only some have this issue? Verizon has a smokin' deal on either 32 GB pixel this friday. Bound to sell alot at that deal and price. Wonder if they have the stock? But really wondering if this new update will be the connectivity fix. Because that price($240) is really tempting. Hope the fix is confirmed by then so I can get one of these bad boys.

It has just been reported although I personally did not read it that it fixed the Bluetooth connectivity issue but another forum member stated that he read it didn't fix the 4G lite issue. Going to have to do some more searching I am not sure I'd anyone posted all of the fixes they noticed hands on.

Until then it's wait and see for me since Canada seems to be the only ones receiving this update thus far

Well, hopefully the update process will be smooth across the board for all pixel owners as Google and Verizon have stated from the beginning. Certainly hope so.

Almost wish I would have waited now but when I got mine they gave me 200.00 for my old phone as trade in and they are taking almost 10 bucks a month off my bill for the next 24 months. No contract for me though.
The thing is if I pay it off early which is something I wanted to do then I would be losing money
