Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Could be but some on Sprint and AT&T are experiencing the same thing so to me it doesn't seem like it is totally isolated. I have read about a lot of new phones with this issue. Is technology too far advanced that carriers can't keep up with it? Buggy software? Who knows. I just think two months in without any kind of permanent fix is a bit much.

Now there are more issues cropping up for some people as well. My phone started freezing up the past 3 days and the only thing that corrects it is a reboot.
Not being a smartass, but sounds like you are worse off with your replacement phone than you were with the previous one.

No I'm sure you're not but this one takes the cake. Has the other two beat by a longshot! Now I'm just laughing because I think it's hilarious. This one has every issue going for it and I'm sure in due time other things will pop us as well.

What can you do right ? I'm not meant to have this phone

All I need are the random shut downs now! Hey as long as it's timed perfectly when my phone freezes it will save me from having to manually power it down

I am still shocked you kept it that long. If a phone didn't hold LTE for me .. it would be a no go haha.

This is my 3rd replacement! I just got this one on Dec 18th
Why don't you go with a different phone. Looks like you are not having any luck with the Pixel. It could just be your area with the Pixel. Like my self and others have said we are not having issues with our phones. If I had as many issues as you been having I would go to another phone never to look back.

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

Man! This is some phone! People with all these issues. Some with a few of them. And some with no issues. Google and/or HTC really dropped the ball on the quality control part of this rollout. Only issue I have is the distorted sound with that piano app. Since I don't play piano, I am not taking a chance on a replacement device. I can live with the distorted piano, I can't live with any of the other issues that I could end up with after getting a replacement device. At this point I am scared to even factory reset mine. Scared it will cause one of these issues to show up.

I don't want to go with another phone as little sense as that makes at this point. There is nothing out there that appeals to me. I am going to see what this update next Tues brings. If it resolves my connectivity issue I will keep it, as the other issues I can deal with until there is hopefully a fix for them. As for it being my area, that is not the case. I am in area that has great signal no matter where pretty much with every other phone I have owned. If nothing improves with the update next week, I will once again return it to Verizon.

So far, only one freeze up today and that was early this morning. I did nothing in terms of deleting any installed apps. Usually I get about 5 freeze ups in a day and they are pretty much consecutive

I would keep getting replacements till at least your down to one issue, that you can live with. If you want to stay with the Pixel. Honestly, I don't think there are gonna be anymore updates to deal with the LTE issue. That was finally fixed with Q. If you are afraid of trying to side load with a Mac, I would find a friend to let you use their PC. And get Q side loaded before asking for another replacement. I know some said Q only helps a carrier in Europe, but I have read other places it fixes US connectivity issues as well. I am on Q and only have the distorted audio issue with the piano app. I leave my speaker at full volume with everything, and had no idea I had the issue till I read about it. And installed the piano app.

But since a lot didn't get Q maybe that carried over since it was skipped for a lot and we are going to see something next Tues?

I will see what happens next Tues and if by some small miracle of faith it fixes my LTE I will stay with what I have. If not I will send it back and take your advice more than likely. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and help.

Another thought I just had was there has to be a reason why Q was not pushed out to everyones phone without having to side load when they know people are still facing issues? Just trying to remain hopeful here

I get what you mean but .. what good is a phone without the connection? I held out for the Pixel XL by using a buddies loaner Nexus 5X since nothing appealed to me. If this phone gave me the issues you had with no LTE it wouldn't matter if something interested me or not -- I need my phone to work.

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

DJM626, I am still at a loss that when I got the phone, I had the same hollow bar problem you had. Reprogramming the radio band fixed mine, but did not fix yours. Did you try that on this replacement BTW?

Yes I did and it did not eliminate it. It is not as often as it was but still occurs enough times in a day to aggravate me

That build of Q may have further locked it in for you to possibly . I know your issues became non existent once you did that but Q might have kept things at bay for you

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

Q did improve the performance greatly. Even the speed. Did you find a way to side load it?

Wasn't able to do it most of my friends are on macs as well. And I don't want to do something incorrectly so I really wouldn't trust myself in doing this

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

Shame. I hate you may have to return it with the possible fix available. Does Mac still have...What was it called... Boot camp? Where u could boot into Windows?
