5 ATM water resistance is only "splash resistant". A watch needs to be at least 10 ATM water resistant for surface swimming.I have read too many user horror stories regarding Pixel watches and water. Google calls the watch "water resistant" and until they start using the term "waterproof," I will avoid putting a Pixel watch in contact with water as much as I am able.

"Waterproof" is not legal for watch manufacturers to claim. That was done in old advertisements in the 1950s. However, even a current Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 6000 m is referred to as "water resistant to 6000m", not "waterproof".
