Pixel XL died today.

Using my phone without incident since release date. I even created a previous topic saying I was sending the pixel back and ordering the V20. I used the two side by side for about a week and returned the V20.

Well, today after taking a video of my dog and playing it back the screen went black and I'm unable to power back on or shut off...it's just black. Won't receive calls or anything. Tried numerous ways with Google support to reset the phone and nothing will happen. Never been dropped, no water damage etc. Mint condition phone.

Google wanted to send me a refurbished model and I said no. I just spent around a thousand dollars getting this phone. I typically get about 2 new flagship phones a year. If I try to resell a refurbished phone that doesn't match the IMEI of the box I'm going to lose even more money than typical depreciation.

I went ahead and ordered the V20 even though the picture quality sucks when you enlarge a picture you've already taken.

I had something very similar happen with my previous Nexus 6P, twice.

The first time, I had left work and drove one mile to the grocery store. I grabbed my phone and headed into the store - now, keep in mind that I had checked the charge state before leaving my office and I distinctly recall that it was above 50% which would have been typical for this time of day - anyway, I hit the power button to turn on the phone and check my shopping list and - nothing - it refused to turn on. I tried everything, holding the power button for 30 seconds, tapping it quickly, I took the case off just in case it was interfering, still nothing.

When I got back into the car, I plugged in the charger and still nothing. I tried the power button again several minutes into my drive and still nothing. Ten minutes later I tried again and the phone powered up just as normal as can be.

A few months later I had a similar episode except, like you, I was actually using the phone when it suddenly went dead. I plugged it in and several minutes later it was fine.

I love my V20 and prefer it over the XL 128gb black, which I returned. I "need" a 5.7" display. Don't get me wrong--XL was a good phone too, but personally prefer the V20.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I agree with other posters: you should be entitled to a refund or an exchange. This is a Google flagship and a new Google line - they should be taking this issue seriously. Please keep us updated with what's happening.

Edit: So glad to read that they're giving you a refund! :)

Okay so this is kind of crazy. A Google representative reached out to me this afternoon after I just returned through the mail my pixel that died yesterday. They were asking me if I wanted a brand new 32 gigabyte and black which is what I had that died. After only about 36 hours with the LG v20 I said hell yes. So my brand new pixel replacement is on the way.

Awesome! Glad to see they decided to make it right! Hopefully all goes well with the brand new replacement.

Considering I had zero issues with the first... I'm assuming all will be fine with the replacement. It's a strong phone and had zero lag. The V20 is a little laggy throughout operation. Not bashing it...it's just impossible for me to go backwards in performance with a new phone.

I feel ya. I love my Pixel. I look forward to seeing how Google builds on this line.

I can't believe they offered you a full refund at that point. I'm shocked.

It's seem Google did the right thing, They told you what issue cause the phone died?
