Welcome to you too

I agree. The S8+ just feels more bleeding edge tech to handle and use compared to the pixel XL. Don't get me wrong, i still love it, and am glad that I gave it to my dad to use, and I can mess around with it whenever I want to. But the s8+ hardware takes the cake.I hear you....I have both the S8+ and Pixel XL. The design of the S8+ is just so nice! i just can't put it down. I forced myself to use my Pixel for a half day a couple days ago.....it was painful to be honest.
The Pixel is a great phone to be sure but it can't compete with the S8 imho.

If Samsung made a version of the S8+ with stock Google android, that would be amazing, as i am still a huge fan of stock Android compared to other OEM skins. But yea, the design, and waterproofing of the S8+ is much better.
And to be fair, I'm not one to use the phone for a full 2 years, even a full year. I'm pretty sure when the note 8 comes out I'll have to bite the dust again and jump to that phone, so the s8+ being out of date software wise doesn't really bother me, as I'll usually be on the newest phone that i like anyways. But if someday i do decide to stop my phone switching ways, and do settle on one phone for at least two or more years, in that instance then I'll pick the pixel XL over the s8+.
I do love the idea and concept of the pixel though, in terms of it being the closest idea to the iPhone. What I mean is that for those that want simplicity, up to date software, they have the pixel available to them. Not much gimmicks, no OEM skins, the phone running the way Google wants it to run, like apple controlling how they want iPhone to run. A pure Google phone. Now it does fail in some parts, like design being so so, supply issues, lack of waterproofing, but I am certainly a huge proponent of the concept.
Since I'm the OP, I'll report back. I chose the S8. Before I shipped back my S8 with the pink edges, I bought an LG G6 and thought I'd be happy, but I wasn't and sold it. Then I was going to look at a Pixel XL, but I couldn't go backwards in time with that phone but I didn't trust that if I went to Verizon's store ( I bought the original S8 online preorder from Samsung) , that I would find one without the pink tint. Well, I gave it one last shot and went last night to VZW and guess what? I got an Orchid Gray S8 without any pink tint! It has made the experience of this phone much better. I am thrilled and glad I didn't go with lesser (IMO) phone! I really think there was a batch that was shipped with bad AMOLED screens on preorder. I doubt it's software, otherwise wouldn't they all look pink? Anyway, if you have any pink tinting, return the phone until you get one! This phone is amazing and you deserve a good one for the money you pay.
Talking about battery...why can't Google implement an option to have the battery percentage to the left of the battery icon on the status bar, like Samsung??? Huge let peeves of mine lolI agree...I just think stock Android is too plain. It lacks features...like a legible battery meter for one lol.
App badge notifications. But i do like the concept of pure Android. But Google needs to take the bull by horns and add more features. It seems like they don't want to actively compete with their OEM partners and the result is a watered down stock Android. Even stock Android efforts like CyanogenMod add more features to the very stock undertones of their OS.
Where would I find a date?Glad to hear you got a tint free unit. Is there a manufacturer date? Just wondering if recent build after the initial report (yeah I know hasn't been out long).
Oh yeah....huge pet peeve of mine! I mean how hard coud that be?Talking about battery...why can't Google implement an option to have the battery percentage to the left of the battery icon on the status bar, like Samsung??? Huge let peeves of mine lol
Very difficult if it contradicts their design principles. For some reason they don't like it there.Oh yeah....huge pet peeve of mine! I mean how hard coud that be?
Design? The text ruins the aesthetics? They added it to the battery icon.....you just can't see it.Very difficult if it contradicts their design principles. For some reason they don't like it there.
Yeah and they hide that in hidden menus - there is a blurb on this in the design guidance, I'll see if I can find it.Design? The text ruins the aesthetics? They added it to the battery icon.....you just can't see it.
Then why are they adding it in Android O?Yeah and they hide that in hidden menus - there is a blurb on this in the design guidance, I'll see if I can find it.
By default or when you open up the system ui tuner? It's not on by default on the 5X, 6P or Pixel C on O, but my pixel Phones are all on N.Then why are they adding it in Android O?
It is in the Ansroid O preview I ran on my Pixel XL

Oh yeah it's there, and next to it instead of inside. If that sticks won't be the first time Google reverses course or violates their own guidance.
