I agree...I just think stock Android is too plain. It lacks features...like a legible battery meter for one lol.
App badge notifications. But i do like the concept of pure Android. But Google needs to take the bull by horns and add more features. It seems like they don't want to actively compete with their OEM partners and the result is a watered down stock Android. Even stock Android efforts like CyanogenMod add more features to the very stock undertones of their OS.

ewww i hate the way Samsung puts the battery meter, its huge right next to the battery. Takes up too much space. I like the way my Pixel shows it, inside the battery.

so it is not a design decision that will ruin aesthetics....They are adding it in Android O....
I will flash the Android O preview and later and show you

They already have it in Nougat. My Pixel XL has it.

Honestly, looking at the two pics... I can easily see the battery level on the Pixel. The Samsung... for such a 6.2" screen... looks sooo small.

Hmm, ok so for usability I like the S8 more, but for aesthetics I like the Pixel better. Definitely like the Pixel WiFi and LTE icons more, clock looks the same to me.

Same reason the weather widget is out of date, the nav buttons are deformed and the search widget is missing

If u want better performance, faster updates, better camera go for the pixel.
If u want special features like waterproofing, good design...go for the s8
