When I place a call my screen dims almost immediately. I don't have enough time to hit the speaker phone button. I have to hit the power button on the top of the phone to bring the screen back so I can enable speaker phone. Is there a way to adjust this?

I have adjusted the screen timeout to one minute...

not sure where else to adjust.

thanks

Screen timeout affects how long the screen stays on when you aren't interacting with it, so you can safely set that back down to 30 seconds or whatever to save battery.

Can't help you with the rest, though. Sorry =\

update

When I receive calls it also dims immediately. It makes it very hard to use speaker phone. Does anyone else use speaker phone? Are you having any problem with the screen dimming to fast to turn it on? Should I take my phone into Verizon?

Thanks for any input.

You know, I just remembered I was having problems like that once or twice. It would happen in dark rooms. The problem is that the phone uses a light sensor to decide when it's near your face. If the sensor gets nothing, it assumes it's pressed to your head and shuts the screen off.

I would try what I call a total reboot, for lack of a better term
-Turn phone off
-remove battery
-with battery out, hold power button for 30 seconds
-replace battery
-turn on.

holding the power button sans battery should clear any remaining electrical charge in memory, getting rid of any potential ghost in the system. If you are still experiencing this problem in a well-lit area, you might have to call Big Red.

Thanks for the input.. I resolved it. It was my case. The light sensor was covered by my case.. So when buying a case for a droid x make sure it doesn't cover the top of the phone.
