I've tried to take the Gmail icon out of the sidebar and place it in a free (open) spot in the row of icons on the bottom of the home screen. It won't stick. Can't find a "how to" in the pdf guide. Is it possible and if so, how?
Thanks

Aren't I in a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 forum? I'm really not trying to be snarky but I'm new to the forum so I could be wrong.
Do people post here that aren't asking about the GN 2014? I only read threads that I'm interested in so maybe there are other
devices asked about here.
As for Android version, 4.3
Thanks

Sounds like you are dragging it from the multi window bar. Go to the applications drawer and drag it from there.

Yes, that is what I'm doing. So I looked to see if it was also in the app drawer...it's not. Now, if you think it is in the app drawer then maybe it was and I removed it thinking "I don't need it here while its so easily accessible in the multi-window bar. I went to the play store to see if I could download it and the only way that's possible is to delete the one on here now (as far as I can tell). Is there anything propitiatory about this particular version of Gmail that came with the Samsung that I'd lose if I downloaded it from the Play Store?
Thanks

You can't delete something from the app drawer unless you uninstall it from the Application Manager in settings. There is nothing proprietary about gmail. If you go to the play store and it says install, you don't currently have it installed and can do it from there.

I was tired, and somehow it did not occur to me that I might, and did, end up in a device-specific thread. I just used the link to "Unanswered threads" In the top part of the forum, and did not pay attention to "where" I ended up..

"Snarky" ? Don't know the exact meaning of the word, but unforgiving and ungrateful, for sure. Was just trying to help.

It is in a folder in the app drawer. You should have a folder in your app drawer called Google. Tap it to expand it and then you can drag the gmail app to the home page.
