Plastic piece stuck in headphone jack

Greetings,
The little piece of the Otterbox case that plugs into the jack to "protect" the jack of the phone broke off inside the headphone jack. Fairly irritating situation since I mainly use my phone as a music player outside of the obvious phone usage. I tried using a sharp needle to kind of poke into the plastic in hopes of pulling it out but no success. Haven't really found a whole lot of info online which I would assume this issue being somewhat common - due to most protective cases having some sort of dubious way of covering the jack. Any one have any idea or experience with this?

If I take my phone apart, would this even help? It looks like the jack is a piece that just clips onto the device to where I wouldn't exactly be able to remove the stuck plastic piece. I want to try to avoid going to a servicer since my Evo is rooted & would expect typical Sprint service to give me some sort of push back.

Try to carefully superglue something to the plastic then a day or so after it dries pull it out, or try bending the point of a strait pin into a micro hook then heat it up and melt it into the plastic, then pull it out after it cools.

I got some piece of paper stuck in my headphone jack (Samsung galaxy II) and I called Samsung and they'll fix it for free! as long as there aint any other physical damage done to the phone.
