Playbooks sales exceeding Xoom. Not a shocker.

Blackberry users are very loyal, much like Apple users. Blackberry users have had to deal with poor devices for years. They are used to them!

I was planning on getting the Playbook for months, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I decided to go with the Xoom because 7in is way too small for me, I watched a movie on my Xoom the other night and felt perfect, yes it is heavier but its way lighter then my laptop. Also the one thing I dont like about the Playbook is the lack of widgets, widgets for me are what make a tablet, so what if you have 100 apps, when you try to find a specific one it sometimes gets very anoying. I have an ipod touch so I dont see the point of getting an ipad. I have a Blackberry curve which I'm planning to switch to an android device later because to me, Blackberry is strictly a business phone. The "fun" apps are pretty terrible like facebook or any games. The only thing I do like about it is the keyboard and bbm. But back to the Playbook, yes it is wicked fast and has multitasking, but who wants to play a game and watch a video at the same time? It may good for some uses but not many, i really like the "recently used apps" feature on the xoom as it freezes the app but boots it up in a second, somewhat like multitasking. And if your on this forum, you shouldn't really care if the Playbook outsells the Xoom, as long as your happy with the product you have then the others shouldnt matter. Ipad, Playbook and Xoom are all great products with their own highlights, if you want a toy get an ipad, if you want a business tool get a Playbook, if you want both get a Xoom.:p

But one could agure that the xoom compared to the ipad and playbook doesnt do the toy or bussiness tool very well.

At this point HC isnt ready. Hopefully google shows us something good next month. I mean other than flash in the browser, im way more productive on my ipad than the xoom.

Its a work in progress agreed, but just like any other product it will get better with updates, which I'm kinda hoping will happen asap lol

My thoughts, the play book is the only BB tab. The ipad is the only apple tab. Of course they should have strong numbers compared to a one android tab maker. But how many manufacturers of android tabs are there? That makes it easy for me to see. I would like to see what OS is dominating, do you have anything like that? Bb has a loyal and large base, and I am glad they do.

Honeycomb Web Browser is great but a huge disappointment, cannot visit the majority of websites without a crash. Everyday the browser crashes, it just crashed when I visited FaceBook as well... Honeycomn needs a HUGE update

@Smokexz- Although I have not had any problems with the HC stock browser, I switched to Dolphin HD because I liked it better on my DroidX. And I definitely like it better on my Xoom as well! Give that browser a try. Never had any prob with that one.

I believe the article is based on sales at Staples and Best Buy... not ALL markets. I would be willing to bet more people ordered from Amazon (that's where I, as well as a couple friends, ordered them). So I would tend to think their "survey" is skewed a bit. Probably written by a bunch of Berryheads.

Going on two days with my pb and still love the screen and formfactor but am already missing my goto android apps.

Marketing

Google isn't advertising Honeycomb, nor is Moto, they try to push their brand name and spec list.

I agree, I walked into Best Buy and was confronted by a display for the Ipad 2 with functioning display models and 6 Apple employees dedicated to answering questions, etc. I decided to look for the Xoom and found it alone in the back with the Netbooks, they hadn't even bothered to set it up with a Wifi connection. If you are a casual consumer you aren't even going to be aware the Xoom exists.

Am I the only one that notices that the Thunderbolt phone can do more than the Blackberry tab!?

There is also a thread bragging that t can view a flash site. What's the big deal? The site posted in the thread worked on my phone. Blackberry users have low standards!

Why don't they just get an Android?

try read a webpage or pdf, 1024x600 in landscape mode is not something thunderbolts' screen can remotely compete.

ughh...I hate blackberry...my last blackberry Tour took about 15 mins to restart....no joke

the playbook is a POS IMO

Latest news is that the Playbook is being returned more than the Xoom. I think it is too early to call anything. While the Xoom may not be the biggest seller, honeycomb seems to branching well onto other devices. The Xoom may not last, but Honeycomb will.

yep....i agree...blackberry is a dying breed........only business users will be utilizing that platform

it may be wise to short their stock to make some money like I have....I'm making good money from their misfortune

plus with this news, their quarterly statement won't meet expectations.....hence, another big drop in the stock...but always be careful and talk with an investment advisor

Business want a professional device that can attach to corporate and be secure, Apple ipad is trusted, blackberry is trusted, google honeycomb and android is not a business professional tool thus will lose major sales and has.

only reason why RIM's stock price went up a few years ago is because it became mainstream in the non-business setting....everyone had blackberry curves from teenagers to old grandmas...that is what gave them the boost

everyone now knows that BB sucks for multimedia, hence the shift to android. Android and RIM's numbers are reciprocal. as RIM was going down, android was going up basically indicating the shift of consumer preferences.

They will now go back to their baseline stock price prior to the popularity a few years ago that has now died off.

in addition, multimedia wasn't as big on phones as before..it was all about email and texting

now with nice screens and faster CPU's the trend is going more for multimedia rather than a communications device.
