Usually for the best results you need to pull the battery as soon as possible

If you didn't do this immediately you may be hosed. You want to remove any power source from electronics that get wet. Then worry about drying them out.

The issue isn't that there will end up being a problem with the battery, but that if power is left to run through the water trapped in the device it can damage the electronics.

Its been like 24hours now the phone is able to turn on but the notification bar at the top when u pull it down, its not working for me do you guys think the phone might still be wet on the inside? or its just dont work becuz of the water?
The screen is very unresponsive

I think you should have let it dry longer. Any damage you see now is likely permanent.

I agree, I believe you rushed the process by removing it from the rice too soon. In saying that, you could have left it in rice for 5 days and I would be left to believe that your phone would remain damaged in a number of ways. My recommendation is start looking for a new phone, this one is toast. Unfortunately.

Stick it back in the rice and leave it be for a few days, and hope for the best.

My son had an iPod Touch that got wet. Don't know how. But it sort of worked after a couple of days. Over the next few weeks, it got better and better and eventually was just fine. You never can tell with water damage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't the S4 survive being in water for like 2 minutes or so? I watched a CNET video comparing the S4 to the iPhone 5 and the S4 made it to like 2:20 or something. Why wouldn't it be able to survive a fall into water and be pulled out before the 2 minute mark?

No. You're thinking of the S4 Active. Different phone, similar name.

I agree Bob. I think in a couple of years we'll see manufactures advertising that their product is 'Liquipeled' the same as they do now with other products like Dolby and Beats Audio.

No longer will a manufacture have to waste time and money developing an 'active' version. Simply add this process to their standard model and they are good to go. All things being equal, I think adding this product to a smartphone makes more sense than buying an 'insurance' policy. Very cool technology.

Not true. Silica gel works better than rice.

No, you should NEVER apply any heat to a smartphone. It will damage the internal adhesives. It will also cause undo stress on the phones internal parts from expanding and contracting, not to mention that heat could cause the battery to leak. If it was saltwater then heat would also cause the formation of crystals inside the phone. Heat should never be used.

Yes, exactly! The time to protect your smartphone is BEFORE it gets wet, not after. Everyone should learn and memorize the simple, yet important steps that need to be taken once a smartphone gets wet. Saving those little silica gel packs is a great precaution to take.

Hi Guys,
I need help I dropped my s4 yesterday in water, after dropping I switched off and try to clean it with a cotton and dry towel. After which I try to switch on but the display screen wasn't working, trying switching again it worked since I needed to go somewhere were very urgently I did not put in rice, under light, or sunlight. At last when I reached home and tried to charge it as battery was low it was not charging. Then I put it under the table lamp to get it heated and warm from inside. What should I do know I really made a mistake of not opening up the device and putting in or under some dry place. . PLzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help.

You should have taken the battery out immediately after you picked it up. If you don't have rice or silica gel packets, I would highly recommend that you a pick some up. Since you tried to turn on the phone and did not place it in rice or silica gel, it is most likely gone now.
