Please help me! (HTC Tech support was worthless)

Are you using a Mac or PC? If your using a Mac then use Android file transfer.
If your using a PC then you just need to get the proper drivers and make sure
you enable USB storage when you connect the phone to the computer.
Im using a PC but have spent hours with Sprint and HTC support and no one can figure out why it will read my old Evo and my daughters IPhone but nothing with my One. Sometimes it will read it but it thinks its a printer, not a phone. Im going to check out airdroid, never heard of that.

Sounds like an issue with drivers. For example, USB modems used to identify as a CD-ROM drive before installing the drivers for a modem. You can get drivers from the manufacturer's website normally,

What OS are you using? Did you go to the HTC website and download the drivers? Airdroid would work for you also.

Attention ALL: I shall ask the stupid questions here, m'kay?

1. Which music player are you using?

2. Is any of the music you are trying to load purchased from iTunes before they stopped that DRM bullstuff or from anywhere else where it may be DRM-protected?

3. Try drag and drop...I've never tried anything but that, and it works like a charm...you can drag and drop anything if you're on Win98SE and up....provided your drivers load.

Halizdad may have nailed it. It may be the digital rights to the music. I can't load all my collection to Google Play for that reason, and you may be facing the same issues with one of your steps. I wonder if there's freeware out there that would take care of that.

If you do find freeware that can strip drm off old iTunes music, would you care to share? I've looked once or twice and have had no luck, they've all been paid programs. I have about 500 songs with drm on the from before iTunes removed it all.

I'm using Aimersoft DRM Media Converter v. 1.4.7. It does the job.

I have downloaded the drivers and redid it all while on the phone with HTC.

No none of this music is from iTunes.

No my phone is not rooted.

I'm trying to use the stock music app, it's what I always used on my old HTC phone and I love it.

I decided to give up and upload everything to Google Play. But I need it available when I don't have wifi or data connection. So I looked up how to "pin" the music. But apparently I am too stupid to do even that. I don't have an "angled pin icon" like it says I should.

Hey guys just throwing this out there. Her music was disappearing off her HTC One not her dropbox which it disappeared off of.

The DRM would stop the file from playing not cause it to delete itself.

Remember she downloaded the files from her dropbox and they disappeared.

Also for those who have the old Itunes files. With the advent of iCloud you can redownload old purchases as long as they are still available from the store and they will be the DRM free version. No need to strip them of that is involved.

True...Let's look at it from a different angle then. If the music is in an unsupported file format (I have to say, I do not know which formats Google Player will play, as I use Poweramp which will play anything) say FLAC (lossless) etc...If there isn't a program on the phone that recognizes that file format, it will remain invisible. I know Poweramp plays ANYTHING in an audio format.

That said, Les, download the free version of poweramp and see if your files reappear. I just loaded 3 albums up to dropbox, (one FLAC, one MP4, one WMA) and downloaded them to my phone just to see what happened, and all three are fine. Maybe the extension is getting corrupted somehow...Dunno'. Without the phone in my paws, I can throw ideas out, but it is impossible to troubleshoot.
