Heh. I'm up to page 307, now. I'm feeling a bit woozy, and slightly suicidal.
Those ROM threads have an amazingly low signal-to-noise ratio. And of course most of the posts are complaining about one problem or another. Or, asking a question that was answered 3 times on the previous page. After reading for a while I begin to doubt whether
any ROMs actually work, and whether humanity
really deserves to exist.
I haven't gleaned any great insights, yet. Here are some rules of thumb, instead:
- When in doubt, don't use Clockwork recovery. It only works most of the time.
- When in doubt, wipe.
- Read the gosh darned OP before asking a question.
- After flashing a new ROM, especially when it's a major revision from your previous ROM, restoring with Titanium Backup is a risky endeavor. Much safer to just re-install by hand.
- No one cares that you just took your phone off the charger and it's already down to 93%. Really. No, it's not the ROM.
- Never install a ROM in the first 24 hours after its release. Bump that up to 72 hours if you are a newb.
