5 minutes flat, and no messing with radios, PRIs, and HBoots afterwards.
NO messing with Hboots after a simpleroot, just Radios (regular and WiMax) and PRI.

FYI. In the span of two weeks I have gone from Vaelpak 2.1 to cyanogen to baked snack to fresh.
After playing with each I'm now back to Vaelpak. By and far my favorite. It just seems smoother than the others and I easily have the best battery life with it. I prefer the slide swipe lock screen and really enjoy the launcher options. By and far the easiest access to the developer and best additional features.
I highly recommend.
Just out of curiousity. Does Wifi work on baked snacks...
Made it up to page 600 of the Baked Thread. Oh, the drama. Herver started giving advanced access to people that had donated, and the poop hit the fan. I'm still a few weeks behind in the thread, but the pace of updates seems to have ground to a near standstill. In addition to the hurt feelings, Hero has also started building Epic ROMs, so I'm not sure he'll be giving the Evo much attention going forward.
That said, BS 1.7 is probably a fine ROM, and I'm really just looking for something that will get me through a 2 week vacation with minimal excitement. After I come back, I can start playing with all the other ROMs.
(I did donate to Herver, so I can follow the threads over on BakedSnachShack.com as well. Joy. More threads.)
Sorry if this question has been asked b4 but after I have installed BS 1.7 do I still need to install a Kernel to remove the fps cap?? I thought that was in the ROM already.

The Kernal that comes preloaded with Baked Snack should free up the Fps cap. I get 54 Fps on my EVO and I just flashed the ROM and use the Kernal that comes with the ROM..... If it's still capped I can't begin to tell you what might have happened....
I was looking at the XDA thread and noticed he had the roaming indicator on all his pics. Is this a bug, or is he just roaming?
It's not roaming..... The roaming symbol is different... He is running Manups theme (which I am as well)
[THEME] 8/30/2010 Manup456 The EVO Collection 2.2 UPDATED =) - xda-developers
at first I thought I was roaming too which was odd since I live in Nashville, TN and have never roamed before.... But I do travel and I do roam from time to time and the symbol for roaming is a solid triangle where as the regular 3G symbol in this theme is slightly different....
They should use a different symbol I guess.... I even had to go back and look at the stock symbol which is basically a 3G and then your bars.... Weird.. Oh and I double checked my bill... No roaming data so it's just the theme..

Now that we can easily root stock 2.2, I decided to give a custom ROM a try and went with this one on yours and others' recommendation (after you tried lots of them). Went with the Kings #8 on the recommendation of another in this thread.
All I can say is WOW. Totally smooth and fast... is the fps cap removed on this? And to get rid of Sense is a feeling of freedom.
I probably did this much harder than you guys who have done it often. I did a nandroid backup (so I could go back if I didn't like it), and did an app/settings backup with Titanium. I restored the apps and most came back with their settings intact (thankfully), but there was still a ton of work setting up my screens again, adding widgets, etc. There has to be an easier way, as this took me hours.
And when an upgrade comes out... do I have to wipe again and go through all this, or can I install right over the current version?
Ha, I know... looks like I have some reading up to do. I'll do it. But thanks for the tips!
I should have recognized that theme, I am running it also. Does the ROM come with that theme, I really don't want that indicator.
You shouldn't have to Wipe again unless you want to...
You should usually only back up apps with titanium no settings
Restoring setting in a Rom can cause issues and force closings
So when an upgrade of my current ROM comes out, all I have to do is install it over my current one? And it will retain all my apps, settings, and screens?
I did back up all the settings, but I only restored the apps. I was afraid of what you mentioned above. There were some settings that were "green" in color in Titanium (such as bluetooth pairings) and I restored some of them and they worked great. Tried to restore browser bookmarks, but wasn't so lucky... the browser looks different, so that may be it. Luckily, Titanium retained all my setup of my applications... such as logins, and connections to data on the SD card, so that worked great.
